First of all, I'm totally perplexed by the glowing reviews - if I wasn't a trusting soul, I would question their legitimacy. I'd like to think that we can trust these reviews to be honest, good or bad, which is why I'm taking my time to write one. The only reason I stayed here was because of the reviews, and... more

I travel a lot for my job, so I have stayed in a lot of different hotels and motels. Now I traveled here with my family and we visited the caverns. I didnt expect the motel to be like this at all, and so I was pleasantly surprised. We had the family suite, and I have to say, it was... more

We went for the lantern tour, our room was huge for a motel, and very clean. Something I am particularly concerned about. Our only complaint was that you can't get anything to eat after 6:00 except candy or micro popcorn. The tour was awesom by the way. We plan on returning with our two children later this year or next... more

This was our third time staying at the Howes Caverns Motel. In general, if not for difficulty with the in-room air conditioning and the attitude of the motel manager concerning same our stay would have been almost perfect. The dinning room and service that used to be there has been replaced by a cafeteria style service, the food is very... more

Hard to find a decent place to eat out here. The room was small but nice. We took the lantern tour package. Was worth it for the price. We stopped at a little diner near another hotel. Will not eat there again if we go. The Price was high and the food was terrible more

We (my 5 year old daughter and I) stayed in that motel overnight during the weekend trip to the caves. We liked it a lot. They accommodated our early arrival and gave us a room at 9 am. The room was clean with working AC, refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. The bathroom is big, clean and looks recently renovated. They... more

During the Fall, finding a nice place to stay in upstate NY under $300 is a hard thing to do. This motel is basic, however basic doesn't mean bad. It is a fair price and you get a nice room and clean bathroom. An outstanding feature is the view of the rolling fields, especially breathtaking in the Autumn. If you... more

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend in Cobleskill to visit my in-laws. We have stayed at Howes Cavern Motel in the past but were pleased to see that it is being renovated and repainted. As usual, our room was clean, everything in good working order and very comfortable. It is a great value, with reasonable rates... more

DO NOT STAY HERE!! I recently spent the night at this motel and was bitten by bugs when in bed. Management did not help at all and forced us to stay in the infested room!! more

Management response from
Robert Holt, General Manager

This complaint is not valid. The Motel Manager and General Manager both thoroughly inspected the room and found no bugs. This room was occupied by 8 college students on a school trip. There were two people per bed and no one else complained about being bit by bugs, including the complainant's bed mate. The complainant and friends were not forced...

We went to Howes Caverns for our 7 year anniversary. My wife and I have a 3 year old and have not been away on a full weekend trip alone since his birth. We stayed in the King Jacuzzi Suite. Nice large room, very spacious. Great view of the valley from our room. Caverns are next door to Motel so... more
