Tired and frazzled as we were, this proved an oasis. We were badly in need of rest and recuperation, after travelling down from the Adirondacks to escape the snow. Barry is a great host, fascinating to talk to, and he spent a lot of time sitting with us and putting the world to rights. He went to a great deal... more

Really enjoyed the tranquility and hominess of this B&B. Our host, Barry Butterfield, was a wealth of knowledge regarding the Hudson area. Breakfast was truly delicious with great decaf coffee. Very comfortable bedding. more

We are from Australia and wanted to experience a small town outside of NYC and enjoy the snow - which we don't get in Australia. The Hudson City B & B is very cozy. The house is beautfiul - so much character. Barry the proprietor is most welcoming and helped us with information on where to go and what to... more

Hudson City Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful house with comfy rooms and a gracious common areas. Our host, Barry Butterfield, provided a warm welcome and great breakfasts! The location is nice because the main street of Hudson is only a block or two away, with a dozen different options for lunch and dinner, and great coffee shops. Highly recommended! more

My partner and I stayed at Barry's perfectly located B&B during the last week of Sept '08 and had a marvelous time at his quite and homey inn. Barry was welcoming and warm (even let us check in early!), very knowledgeable of the Hudson area and said if we needed anything he was a cell call away. Our room was... more

We stayed for Labor Day weekend and had a great time in Hudson. The architecture in the town (and in this charming B&B) is a dream; every building is over 100 years old and beautifully preserved. Very romantic setting for a long weekend. The Inn-keeper, Barry, is a top-notch cook! The first morning he served gourmet omelettes (sauteed onions, boiled... more

My husband and I felt very fortunate to stumble upon this little B&B after our reservation at another hotel fell through. Our host greeted us warmly, offering up a series of house comforts: wine glasses? robes? bottled water? movie? The room was clean and inviting. The bed was comfortable and the house was quiet. The next morning we were treated... more

The location is an excellent one - only a few blocks from the heart of town. However, the building is in need of some TLC. The rooms are poorly decorated and outdated. The furniture throughout the house is mismatched. The room, although large, was not impressive. There was a dirty glass in our room, no t.p. in the bathroom, and... more

Our experience was very similar to the August 4 review by "Hudsonvalley fan". The place is operated by one individual (Barry) who does just about everything at the B&B. Some of it he gets right (knowledge of the area, restaurants, attractions, etc.) and some he gets wrong (breakfast was tasty but disorganized, rooms need sprucing). It's worth going if just... more

Overall this was a very nice place to stay, it just lacks a little polish. The entire B&B has a relaxed, comfortable vibe, and the host is very low-key and easy going. The place was quiet, and the innkeeper and other guests keep to themselves. I wish that I had had more time to enjoy the front porch. There were... more
