I booked this hotel because the price was one of the best and it was walking distance from the downtown area. When we found the place, I realized that what looked like a few short blocks from the Commons ended up being further up the hill than I anticipated and not the easy walk I had planned. They lost our... more

Let's face it, you can't realistically expect a stellar hotel room for under $100/night anywhere. The Hillside Inn may look a little rough around the edges, but if you're traveling on a budget, it's a very decent place. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are cleaned every day (get past the outdated decor people, if you want luxury... more

After having read several reviews of the Hillside Inn, I booked my reservation and hoped for the best! I arrived in the early evening on October 10th, and was greeted most graciously by Kevin, the night manager. After a delightful conversation, Kevin showed me to my room which, although dated and rather small, was very comfortable and spotless (and I... more

This hotel reminded me of a cross between staying at my grandmother's house back in the early 1970s and a European pension. All the rooms are different, some have bay windows, some have extra closets; some are small and some are quite large. It was a little musty and worn at the corners, but very clean and we enjoyed our... more

I cannot believe a city would allow this place to stay in business.A very old house particianed into tiny dumpy rooms. We booked a room via telephone after seeing an ad in a travel brochur. The management wanted to put us on the third floor converted attic.Thankyou,no,we are seniors. I would not stay here for free,it's that bad. And yes, they kept... more

This place is far from elegant and dumpy. With exception for the sheets and towels it does not appear too clean. The single rooms are teeny the only reason to stay is the price, which is why I stay often. Breakfast is instant coffee or tea and a quarter-sized muffin. more

Booked with no problem, although when I called to check the night before they had no record of my booking. Fortunately they still had rooms available so no harm was done. Arrived at 11pm and the man on the desk helped me carry my very heavy bag to my room. The decor was extremely dated (probably originating from around 1973)... more

This place should be shut down. It is terrible to admit that this is the closest off-campus hotel to Cornell. The staff is very impersonal, rude, unhelpful, and greedy. Be careful if you cancel a reservation, they will still charge you and give you the hardest time when you try to seek reimbursement (even if you canceled your room 2... more

Whatever you do, DO NOT STAY HERE.... No complimentary anything, night manager creeped the hell out of me, and the place is pretty much a dump. I would much rather camp out on the quad on campus during a blizzard. more
