I have traveled all over Africa, and I have no doubt that this is one of the most beautiful places on the continent. I live comfortably, and have been many places all over the world, and I've got money to spend. You can imagine my disappointment when I visited Mandina for the first time and was treated like a second... more

Had a week at Mandina, great location, lovely scenery and very peaceful. Was a bit surprised at how basic the accomodation was for the price. Lighting in room poor, no basic toiletries except for a bar of soap, no hand towels or drinking water in room. Staff however were extremely friendly and helpful and contributed greatly to our holiday. Our... more

Well what a place to stay. We stayed in the stilted lodge for three nights in October, and it was really something else. When we arrived we met our maid, waitress and tour guide. Every lodge has all three people just for them. At first you find it a bit overwhelming but you soon get used to it.,and It is... more

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of October - first of all, for those who haven't been to the Gambia before, be ready for the locals to bombard you straight off the plane, asking for money, trying to take your bags (for payment) and generally getting quite abrasive. As soon as you get to Mandina however you are... more

Whilst staying at a beach hotel for 7 days we met a couple who had just returned from Mandina after only staying for about 2 hours with a horror story (they had booked for 3 days) the same as we had booked for, which nearly put us off as this was our 50th birthday treat and was really looking foward... more

The worse place I have ever stayed in my life! We stayed in jungle lodge no.3. The toilet leaked - yuck!! After 3 attempts to fix it we left! We got electric shocks off the outside shower, as well as being eaten to death by the mosquitos. Our door didn't lock, but was eventually fixed with a few bent nails.... more

Ok so if you've been to Gambia before and you are familiar with the attraction that the local men have to a UK passport, and you can handle it, then fine. This place is the dogs bollocks. If on the other hand you want to get away from it (personally wanted to escape for a week from man trouble in... more

My husband and I have just returned from a week's stay in the Mandina Lodges. Having travelled extensively and stayed at many of the world's leading hotels, this one is five star with a difference. There's no overstated opulence here at all, just peace and tanquility in a heavenly setting. We were initially disappointed to find the stilted lodge had... more

We spent 7 memorable nights at Mandina Lodges. Where do we start.....!? We arrived at the lodges by private transfer which took approx.30min drive. We were greeted with a complimentary refreshing juice whilst we were introduced to our day waitress and guide for the week. This has been understated in previous reviews as you actually have 4 personal staff throughout... more

I had 4 nights at the lodges in floating lodge 1, this is heaven on earth and with some reluctance (as I don't want every one going) this is an incrediable place to stay. It's peacfull, quite, beautifull, charming and lives up to it discription. James (the owner) and his staff are committed to this protect (it's ethos is to... more
