We found Paradox Lodge by accident, driving around trying to avoid corporate hotels and motels. Our small room at the back, with lake view through trees, was charming, cosy, quiet and comfortable. Unfortunately, they were not doing dinner that night, but gave recommendations for local eating. Breakfast was the best we had on our whole trip and we were devastated... more

The rooms are immaculate and cozy with beautiful linens. Breakfast was delicious, be sure and have the homemade sausage. Chef Red LaFountain and his wife, Nan, are the perfect hosts. Dinner was delicious. Red makes everything fresh to order (except the soups, made earlier in the day). My sister had the Pork Normandy with a fabulous calvados sauce and pureed... more

stayed at the Paradox Lodge while our house was getting renovations done(just bought). We were recommended by some friends. The owners, Nan and Red, are a nice couple, well nan is nice. Red was more interested complaining about area buisnesses. We had a nice room over the kitchen. Bit smelly from the kitchen and could hear Red complaining. Saw a... more

I stayed there for an evening and had dinner there. The room was very nice, spotless and with good ambiance. Location is so/so, across the street from McDonalds some distance from the core. Others have described eating there as being like attending a dinner party at the home of the hosts. I would agree with the analogy, which if you... more

Isn't the whole concept of a B & B to intermingle with other guests and the hosts? Are you not guests in someone's house? Staying at a B & B requires a little risk taking in that you might not connect with other guests or the hosts. Some of our nearest & dearest life long friends were first our customers....

This was a first trip to Lake Placid although Lake Placid was not reason for the trip. It just happened to be the location of an Ironman race. But it turned out to be the best part of the trip! Getting there was definitely half the fun. Flew from Atlanta into Burlington VT, picked up the rental car and headed... more

We stayed at the Paradox Lodge for a weekend in August for vacation. The lodge had great decor - it really felt like Lake Placid. Its right on the lake and there are canoes and kayaks there for your use. My husband and I went kayaking one morning - its a gorgeous lake with tons of amazing homes to look... more

We stayed at paradox lodge early October and had a good time.We expected a B&B but it is more like a luxury inn with a great restaurant. The food and hospitality were exceptional, the room had a fireplace, jacuzzi, minibar and a great bed...Go as a couple...not for kids...We will be back if we visit the area. more

Aug. 2008 we spent two nites at Paradox Lodge. The owners, Red and Nan paid attention to every detail: From the craftsmanship, interior decorating and numerous amenities. The location just on the outskirts of town allows you a nice walk or a paddle in the canoe. As if we needed more to recommend the Paradox Cuisine is over the top... more

My husband and I went over President's weekend this past February. This place is GREAT! Our room was comfortable, the food was excellent and the homemade vodkas were great! It was very cozy and friendly. The owners are really nice. If you don't like dead animals hanging on the walls, then you might not appreciate the decor. There were many!... more

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend in June and had a great time. The owner was incredibly friendly and accommodating, even when we had to delay our checkout for a couple of hours. The room was clean, bed comfortable, and food was great. I'll stay there again in the future. more
