The farmhouse is done very well, and the food was excellent. But David Page should not be in the hospitality business. While the inn itself, as well as the tasting room, are warm and inviting, his icy demeanor and ungraciousness made it impossible to feel comfortable there. Apparently David considers himself to be a very important person in the world... more

In my view the rooms and baths are beautiful, though the modern style may be jarring to some who expect bed and breakfasts to be Victorian or rustic. They are decorated with excellent original art and furnished with some one-of-a-kind artesan furniture, mixed in with good quality conventional furniture, all in excellent condition. Many excellent accessories and decorating choices. Unfortunately,... more

My wife and I stayed at the Shinn Farmhouse for two nights in October 2009. We had a fantastic getaway - the inn is quiet with a contemporary feel. Barbara and David were gracious hosts - we enjoyed talking with them about the winery and inn (clearly their passion) and the north fork in general. They were a source of... more

This was the 2nd place we stayed at this weekend having first spent two nights at the North Fork Table and Inn (wonderful dinner/food, rooms just ok). But back to Shinn. We arrived in the pouring rain and check in couldn't have been easier. We parked in front and walked around back to the tasting room. Someone showed us to... more

Dispiriting experience. Badly-designed room. Utilitarian feel. Indifferent and belligerent attitude. We stayed here mid-May 2009. It was so awful we cut our trip short and went back into Manhattan. As experienced international travellers, having stayed at many hotels and B&B in our time, we have never before come across such discourteous and inhospitable service. One wonders why this is run... more

I stayed at Shinn with 3 other couples during March of '08. We rented the entire farmhouse for 2 nights to celebrate a friend's birthday and to enjoy a weekend out of Manhattan. While the farmhouse is beautiful and the breakfast was very good, the stay was almost ruined because of the rudeness of the proprietors. It is obvious that... more

We are glad that we didn't pay attention to the negative reviews. My husband and I just stayed a night and couldn't be happier with our experience. The property is quiet and beautiful and in the morning we had a fantastic breakfast. The owners were nothing but friendly and accommodating to us. You can sense they are passionate about this... more

The negative reviews speak for themselves. We had a terrible experience during our stay. I won't go into all the details but the owners are extremely rude to their guests. They act like they are doing their paying customers a favor by allowing them to stay in their house. I have never felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable in a B&B,... more

All 4 rooms booked on a Wednesday & Thursday night w/a wedding rehearsal dinner at the estate itself = lots of money for them and complete disrespect to my family and the bride on her wedding day. As in many of the other reviews the owners were very smug and acted as if they did not want us there...um, I... more

Every year my friends and I, about ten ladies, plan a trip out to the Long Island Vineyards. This trip always is a fun time for us to catch up and relax. This year, we decided to add Shinn Estate Vineyards to our itinerary. Although we did not stay at the "inn" we had a horrible experience with the vineyard... more
