We like the Beachcomber since it's right across from less crowded parts of the beach and its rooms are generally cleaner than your average Montauk motel. It's also convenient that it has its own tennis court and pool but due to spotty weather we didn't take advantage of these amenities. It was great that our studio had a large kitchenette... more

After reserving a room in a nearby hotel " Crow's Nest" which we canceled due to misrepresentation of their ad ("spectacular view", no. not from the rooms as promised), we were lucky to find that there was a room available at the Beachcomber. The awesome view of the water is something to behold. The only thing I didn't like was... more

We arrived Sunday and checked out on Wednesday. Traffic from The City was heavy although we were going against the flow of the weekend travellers who were headed home. From Amagganset to Montauk, traffic was quite heavy, often at a stand still. The Beachcomber is not in the center of town, although walkable. After spending some time in the center... more

Mom treated us to a five-night stay at the Beachcomber (it was my first visit & a return for her). Check-in was quick & painless: payment in full in advance & a list of rules to sign & obey. Parked near stairs to our spacious room #229, central second floor overlooking the mighty Atlantic. Three stars for room based solely... more

good location, but room was dated, bed quality poor. A/c unit looked like it was from the 1970's, did not work properly. After notification of broken a/c unit, no offer was given for discount. more

It appears some rooms are individually owned so it would depend on the luck of the draw. My room 231 was very nice and remodeled with a new bathroom. Pool is nice and clean. To get to the beach, you have to cross Old Montauk Hwy and follow a path through the dune. Not bad but a long trek back... more

Visited the Hamptons for a special event the weekend of July 18th. Montauk is really beautiful and less crowded than the other villages on the East end. We traveled there on the LIRR which was quick & convenient. The Montauk train station is only minutes away and cost $9 by taxi. The hotel is old and basic with a kitchenette.... more

Just got home from a perfect vacation in Montauk. We have been going to Montauk for years and we decided to stay at the Beachcomber Resort. My husband and I had a wonderful time. The room had sliding doors onto a deck that overlooked the ocean where we ate breakfast every morning. The beach across the street was so secluded.... more

Every year for over 17 years my 4 sisters and I spend 5 nights in Montauk. We've tried many places, and have returned to the Beachcomber a number of times. There is no doubt the quality has gone down while prices go up. The employees in the office are the worst by far. The cleaning staff should be running the place,... more

The Beachcomber made it very clear that they were feeling a hit from the economy's recession. They cut back on things like pool hours, room amenities, and cleanliness. For the money that we spent to stay there we would have been better off in a flea bag motel, because then we would have expected such poorly kept accommodations. The hours... more
