Beautiful! Rustic and eco friendly resort. Meals were fabulous - and all fresh ingredients. Snorkel trips were great, rangers very friendly and location is perfect. Spent days just watching and playing in the ocean. Peaceful, quiet... Highly recommended. Only complaint would be the water... the drinking water provided in the rooms had an odd smell to it -- so recommend... more

I and my husband stayed at Chumbe for 3 days in September and we totally fell in love with the island! After a 45 min boat ride (where we spotted dolphins) we arrived to this lush island and got a nice welcoming with information about the bungalows and the project. One of the rangers showed us to the banda (bungalow)... more

We've visited several eco resorts in the past, this is NOT one of the best. The snorkling, the island are absolutely beautiful. The rooms are an diseaster. First of all, the beds; There are no beds... only some old matrasses on the floor, these had an awful smell and were killing our backs. Then there is the eco-toilet. Somehow it's... more

We fell in love with this place! The staff could not do enough for you. As there are only 7 bungalows on the island it had a very friendly atmosphere. The bungalows were rustic, but comfortable and even the compost toilet was not a problem! You need to be fairly agile to climb up the small twisted stairs to get... more

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon to Tanzania, and loved it! After our 45 minute boat ride from Stonetown we arrived to a welcome drink, and then were shown to our bungalow (no 7). The bungalows are incredible, and although they don't have windows or doors, we felt safe leaving our belonging in there (there... more

We stayed on Chumbe for 2 nights...LOVED our cottage (#7), loved the simplicity and quiet of the island. The food was fantastic and the views were breathtaking. This was our African beach safari...we didn't want to leave. more

I just have to begin like almost everyone else who writes a review on Chumbe to say it is incredible, unique and we had the most enjoyable time we have ever had on holiday and would certainly go back. This is mainly due to the fact this is the perfect holiday island with a lovely beach, privacy, seclusion, lots of... more

We stayed at Chumbe Island for three days after 2 weeks on safari and it was stunning! Since it is an eco-lodge I was expecting that there would be no electricity, cold showers and horrible food. I was wrong! The bungalows we stayed in were very comfortable with working lights and hot showers. We loved falling asleep to the sound... more

We have visited the beatiful island of Chumbe and were very excited of the whole place. We had a couple of wonderful days together with other guests and the nice people working in the area. The way of living in one of the ecologicial bungalows was very nice with the open ground area and the romantic bedroom upstairs with the... more

We intended to stay 3 nights at Chumbe after 5 camps on the mainland - a very gruffy ranger introduced us to the site, no questions from our side answered,m either he didn't understand or wouldn't answer our queries. Huts very simple, like someone else said: no winds, bad smells. The worst was the time of snorkelling: only 1 hour/day... more
