We spent 3 nights at the Flame Tree and were very much disappointed. ROOM was very expensive and plain (stayed at the Suite upstairs to finally have a more or less 'quiet' AC). STAFF tried to be helpful, but due to language problems it got quite complicated. Both my partner and I are used to travelling all around the world... more

We spent 8 nights at Flame Tree. The bugalow was bright, clean and airy. The staff friendly and helpful. The food good. Breakfast every morning on your balcony. Right on the beach, 5 min walk to main town, Nungwi on beach. Owners very helpful. more

Our first trip to Zanzibar and this was a truly romantic trip to paradise. The cottages are comfortable with huge beds and little flowers adorn the place which is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The beach was white with soft sand and clear warm water. We we thoroughly spoilt by such attentiveness, breakfast served on our verandah and lovely candlelit dinners... more

We spent 6 nights at Flames and had a great time. The bugalow was bright and airy. The staff friendly and helpful. The food good. And the owners, just wanted us to have a good time and went the extra mile to ensure we did. Flames offers a variety of activites and we opted for the sunset cruise with snorkelling... more

As everyone agrees, this is a phenomenal resort. Having come from another, less reputable establishment on the island where we were cheated and abused, this was the savior of our vacation. The room was beautiful. We had the option of having meals on our gorgeous veranda or at the beachside restaurant, where the food was spectacular. The grounds are amazing,... more

We came as a large group and took over all the rooms at Flame Tree for a week. Seif and his staff couldn't have been more helpful and we had a ball. From the lovely gardens to the spectacular views out to the reef, this was a special find. If any of you know anything about cricket, Seif helped arrange... more

Wow, where to start. Myself and my husband did the exhausting bus trip and then ferry to get to Flame Tree Cottages from Uganda. Once we arrived we knew we had made the right choice. It's my first time booking something over the internet without a personal recommendation so it was a bit of a risk. We sent our telegraphic... more

This was my fourth trip to Zanzibar and we loved almost everything about our holiday. The cottages are basic, but are clean, comfortable and kept beautifully cool. Flame Tree Cottages are in the most beautiful setting, with dinner served each night on the beach and the village of Nungwi within easy walking distance. Trips can be organised to visit the... more

On Zanzibar, the hotels seem to be either REALLY expensive or REALLY cheap. This is a good compromise at USD 105 per double room per night. The hotel is at Nungwi on the North coast with spectacular views of the sea and the reef. As at many of the hotels, the rooms are in different bungalows spread out over the... more

Flame tree cottages. A fantastic haven of peace. Self contained very clean airconditioned units. Furnished to a very high standard they are perfect for honeymoon couples families or just overworked holiday makers who need rest and relaxation. The breakfast is served with flowers and a smile by the happy staff. The menu for dinner and lunch is truly excellent trad... more
