We've stayed at Kavalari at least five times since our first visit in 1998. We were first attracted by the incredible views, pleasant terraces and location in the center of Fira, and those are still Kavalari's biggest assets. I've always considered the steep, meandering stairways and odd-shaped rooms part of the property's charm, as a converted former captain's house and... more

We just returned from the Greek Islands and we stayed 5 nights at the Kavalari. You can't beat the view -it's an excellent location and there are many terraces to view the caldera. I would recommend going out to breakfast though and not getting the breakfast there - the first day we had bread, coffee (not offered tea), orange juice... more

We stayed at the Kavalari for 3 nights during our stay in Santorini. I looked at many, many other hotels in Fira as options, but am so glad we chose the Kavalari. From the great location (right in the center of town) to the amazing view (direct view to the caldera) it was the perfect spot to be on the... more

Our party of four just returned from Greece, and our stay in Santorini at the Kavalari was the highlight. The hotel is nice and the staff very friendly, but it was the view that mattered most. We stayed in a larger room (4 adults) with kitchenette, and noticed a little musty smell as others have reported. But since it was... more

Someone recommended the Hotel Kavalari to me when I told them my cousin & I would be going to Santorini. He said the cave room was amazing. Well...if you don't get the cave room be prepared to stay in what felt like a Hostel. The beds were more like cots and less than a foot off the floor. The toilet,... more

Have just returned from Greece, having spent 3 nights at the Kavalari Hotel in Fira, Santorini. The view from this hotel is absolutely spectacular. We were expecting there to be hundreds of steps but actually it wasn't too bad at all. Our standard double room wasn't too bad although we were expecting a private terrace and all we got was... more

Incredibly beautiful location. Well managed and maintained hotel with friendly helpful staff. Good generous breakfast on the terrace. The prices are relatively high but you get quality and a breath-taking view. Right in the center of Firà. A few rooms do not have a direct caldera view from their windows but two steps out the room and the vast hotel... more

I don't think any hotel in Fira could have a better view than the Kavalari! We were lucky in that our room was only one level down from the office. Breakfast was not much, but the location and the view more than made up for that. I do have to agree with another reviewer that our room was also very... more

Santorini is about one thing and one thing only. A view that no camera will ever truly be able to capture. With that said, the Kavalari gave me exactly what I wanted, 2 nights in one of those places creeping down the cliff I saw the last time time I was here, but wasn't able to stay overnight (cruise stop).... more
