This is a really bad hotel for several reasons. First, despite a wretched location in a seedy section of town, it is not that cheap. Second, rooms are worn and the carpeting seemed quite dirty. Third, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The head was lower than the foot, and the weight of a 150 pound man caused the overly soft... more

After reading some of the reviews, we were skeptical. However, everything was terrific. The staff, the rooms, the event ----- all of it was much more than we expected. We were treated so well, there is no doubt we will return when in the area. The wedding was so well coordinated and the food was wonderful. A full course meal,... more

Went to Poughkeepsie to see a concert at the Chance. Since we took the train in, we stayed at the Grand Hotel. Great location inbetween the train station and the downtown area. Had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was excellent and extremely reasonably priced. The bed was not all that comfortable, and the walls are TISSUE PAPER THIN!... more

December 6 - 7 2008. Arrived early via AMTRAK around 2:00 and was allowed to check in early since the room was ready. Very courteous, competent and quick front desk service on check-in and check-out. Room was clean and nicely furnished. First time in Poughkeepsie. Took the Amtrak from Baltimore to New York Penn, then the Empire express to Poughkeepsie.... more

I have gone to several functions at the P/Grand Including chaperoning proms and attended several weddings. Over the course of this time I have witnessed purses stolen by my opinion staff. Rude individuals at the front desk. Who if you are lucky to find them dont really want to help you and make you feel like your bothering them. On... more

Based on previous reviews, we went into the experience expecting the worst but hoping for the best. We were there for a family wedding, so we were prepared to go with the flow - after all, we were only spending 2 nights. WHAT a surprise we were in for! We have NO complaints about anything! The hotel itself was immaculate... more

We stayed at The Grand when my daughter had her wedding and reception in the Poughkeepsie area. We had a very nice room that seemed like it had recently been remodeled. Our wedding was a destination wedding for many people-------we had 47 rooms booked for people from 13 states and one foreign country. Some people had updated rooms, some had... more

I was expecting the worst based on some reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. The lobby is small but nice and the rooms were decent size and clean. The room did have a strange smell, however, and I had to sleep with the window open. It smelled like new shower curtain. The other problem in the room was that it was... more

I attended a wedding at this dump they call a "grand" hotel. I guess for Poughkeepsie, this is as grand as it gets. The public areas were redone to give the pretense of a fancy place but behind the scenes it's old and dated, especially the hotel rooms. The food was terrible. They must offer a bargain wedding package for... more

I was staying for a wedding. The shower had left over hair, half a roll of toilet paper. At 7am Sunday morning most of the hotel was awoken by drilling and hammering, which continued all morning. I checked out at 1045am and had to walk through the demolition area, which consisted of debris all around. The elevator from the parking... more
