Sunday I went to the Dockside Pub in Mahopac for dinner with friends. I had not been there before. It is located right on the shore of Mahopac Lake, so I felt a little bit like I was in a resort. Needless to say, we sat outside with a view of boats and jet skis crossing the water.
I tried a beer called Redhook Long Hammer. It is an IPA and I was guessing it was from New Jersey. My friend suggested it might be from Brooklyn. I have now looked it up on the website and the brewery is in Seattle, Washington. The beer was good, but I prefer Captain Lawrence's Reserve (double IPA) much more. (For anyone in the Westchester County area, be sure to stop at the Captain Lawrence Brewery in Pleasantville to sample their wares.) To go with the beer, I ordered the Legrange Burger, served with onion rings, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, haricots verts, and a red wine truffle sauce.
