The Fogarty B&B in Saranac Lake village was an excellent outpost for our outdoor adventures in the Adirondacks. The B&B is a large wood-paneled historic house on the side of a hill overlooking Lake Flower. Your adventure begins with the climb up the steps or driveway to reach the house. There is a large living room with fireplace and a dining room adjoining an outdoor porch with a view of the lake and mountain behind the village of Saranac Lake.. Hummingbirds visit a feeder. There is a full breakfast, with the opportunity to ask the owners, who have always lived in the Adirondacks, about where to go and what to do, especially outdoor activities, such as hiking and canoeing. West and south from this town is an interconnected series of lakes. Canoeing can start right there at lakeside, or else inquire about an outfitter.
