We have visited the Saranac Lake area for several years, as our son attended Paul Smith's College. I have investigated and stayed at several places, and have come to the conclusion that a B&B is the way to do the Adirondacks. Our family of three stayed two nights in the "Liberty Suite" of the Patriot House B&B in Saranac Lake, NY. The innkeeper, Diana, was very friendly, down-to-earth, and an excellent cook. The Patriot House B&B, conveniently located in the village of Saranac Lake, is close to hiking, mountain climbing, canoeing, and the Olympic sites in Lake Placid, NY.
