The hotel is situated in a beautiful state park but the view from our window was completely obstructed by a generator. The attitudes, the inflexibility, and the prices certainly aren't worth it. Definitely not a place to stay for business travelers because it's impossible to cancel a reservation without three days to a week's notice. There's so many better and more beautiful places to stay in the area (like the Inn at Saratoga or the Adelphi Hotel). more

what a disapointment , it was my birthday went to see the police at near by spac it was the height of racing season but $500.00 a nite for a room as big as my closet was a bit to much. i've had better stays at a super 8. more

I stayed here for a wedding and have honestly never been treated more poorly by a disorganized staff than at this hotel. It is a beautiful building from the exterior, but the interior is totally run down and even smells bad. Wow. I read the reviews on TripAdvisor, and I was SCARED. I'm staying at the Gideon Putnam for a conference, so I really didn't have another option for a hotel. After the reviews here, I actually packed my own sheets, just in case! So imagine my surprise when I arrived to a beautiful, charming, cozy hotel room. It's wonderful here.... more

I loved this hotel. the service was excellent and the room had so much charm. We only had the pleasure of staying here one night, I would have loved to have stayed longer. The beds were so comfortable and the room was so clean. The food was wonderful from room service. Very quick service and pipping hot. Don't stay here... more

To give you an idea of how bad the Gideon Putnam was, after entering our $600 a night suite, we promptly called a nearly Hampton Inn to see if they had rooms available. We knew we could not cancel our reservation without having to pay for the room AND WE DIDN'T CARE. We just wanted to get out of there.... more
