We stayed here one night on our way to New Hampshire. We've stayed here previously while heading east to the New England states in Autumn. Coming from Western NY, it's a good half way point to just rest for the night and get up early to have more time to drive the scenic route through Vermont and NH. The Stockade... more

Let me start by saying, the wedding I attended here was great - food, service and decor. If I was reviewing on that alone, this would be 4-5 star. But I'm not going to review this hotel based on being at a wedding, so let me explain. At first this looks like a neat, old building, but when you walk... more

Arriving just after 8:00 pm, we found the front door locked. There was a call buzzer, which was answered. I was asked my name, which I gave. A young college student came to the front door to let us in. The first impression of the place is one of decaying oppulence. The building, built in 1818 for use a a... more

When I made reservations the girl went out of her way to tell me it was busy almost as though to discourage me as to making... more

Surfing for a place to stay for one night within a short drive of the "pricey" hotels and name chains near the Albany NY airport and Wolf Road complex, I happened upon the Stockade Inn about 20 minutes away. For less than $100, I had a generous sized corner 3rd floor room (no elevator) with a huge bathroom and plenty... more

Did not have reservations for an overnight stay-----dined there for a special occasion. Food was VERY,VERY good. Started with a crabcake which was excellent. Main entrees were flank steak & filet mignon. Portion for flank steak was large----had to bring some home. Filet mignon was very tender & tasty but cooked a little too much. I had ordered medium rare,... more

The Stockade Inn mixes elegance and friendliness in just the right proportions. It's a really nice, solid nineteenth-century building, suggesting Schenectady's days of glory (built originally as a bank, for most of the past century it was Mohawk Club -- a gentleman's club of the old school, cigars and brandy and all); at the same time it's been recently remodeled... more

The Stockade Inn serves excellent food in a comfortable, traditional setting. If you're looking for fine dining in Schenectady, this is your destination. The menu was varied without being unfocused (although there are no vegetarian options) and the food was all of good quality and very well-prepared. My steak was cooked exactly as I asked and the appetizers/sides were delicious.... more
