I was looking for an inexpensive place close to Saratoga Springs, and couldn't find anything closer and in my price range, so I took a chance on the Burgoyne. Their website promised newly-refurbished rooms, and that won me over. My room had a homey feel, nothing like the usual soullessness of chain motels. Indeed, everything was new...except for the mattress, which creaked disconcertingly. However, it turned out to be comfortable despite its obvious age. The place was clean, comfy, and at $85 for an efficiency with a queen bed and single foldout couch, 2-burner stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, dining table and all the usual amenities, a good bargain.
Just one oddity: a sign at the desk states "no cooking in rooms," and indeed, no implements for cooking or eating were provided, despite a beautifully tiled countertop and ample cabinets. If one were allowed, one could cook a full meal if the necessary items were supplied.
