This review maybe out of date as I stayed at the Hotel International in January 2007 but I generally liked the place and its oldie worldie atmosphere so I wanted to write something about it. I have to start by saying I wouldn’t call the hotel luxurious especially after hauling my bags up several flights of stairs (no lift/ elevator) in extremely hot and humid conditions but the view from my room and the small rooftop terrace made up for that. The rooms were clean and tidy and with plenty of hot water but as with most hotels I have stayed at in Africa it needed updating as many of the fittings (plug sockets, light switches, air conditioning units) looked like they were installed in the early 70’s, although I’m sure they weren’t. The rooms were nicely furnished with a comfy bed and mosquito net which was handy as the best form of keeping the room cool was having the big windows open.
