I stayed here for two nights based on the recommendation of a coworker. I'm not sure the single rooms are as nice as some of the larger rooms, and think $75/night was a bit steep for what I got. The room was a bit shabby, and the bed was terrible! The overall atmosphere is nice enough, with local furniture and... more

Stayed here for three nights in November 2009 (originally booked for two but extended by a night - note that even in low season this hotel is busy, and the extension was not guaranteed until that day). I'd reinforce what most of these reviews have said: it's a pleasant place to stay, in a really interesting town. Specific things to... more

We loved this hotel - beautiful old antiques in every room and all around the hotel. Beds very comfortable (King size). Staff were very friendly and helpful. There were a few maintenance issues in our room so we were upgraded to a Delux Suite for 2 nights! This was lovely but we had to move into a very small room... more

Stayed at the Dhow Palace as the sister hotel, The Tembo was full, I wanted somewhere on the beach, but this was actually very pleasant, I ended up paying $70 for a huge room overlooking the swimming pool area with a little balcony and lots of fans. It is showing signs of wear and tear, definitely "well used" comes to... more

We stayed for three nights in this hotel and found it a very pleasant place. The staff were extremely helpful and kind to us and the room exceeded our expectations in terms of size. It was decorated with antique furniture and all three of us had a double bed each! The proximity to the attractions of Stone Town were an... more

We stayed in the Dhow Palace for two nights during a short visit to Stone Town. The location of the hotel is fantastic and all the sights of Stone Town are easily accessible. The room was not amazing but was clean and had air conditioning, a fan and a fridge. The ensuite was nicely decorated with an arabian style shower,... more

What an extraordinary hotel. Although we arrived in Stone Town earlier than the normal check-inn time, we were welcomed and our luggage was stored in a secure location, allowing us to use the time at hand to wander through the streets of Stone Town. One would be able to find something to complain about regarding the rooms, if you wanted.... more

Situated in a beautiful historic building close to the beach, shopping and museums, this is a charming hotel with excellent staff. I stayed here 3 nights and it was a great base for touring Stone Town, the spice plantations, and other organized trips. The rooms are furnished in traditional style with a high bed and gorgeous tiled bathtub, and there... more

Hotel is ideally located in the heart of Stone Town, the old town of Zanzibar Town. Booking was easy through their web pages (www.dhowpalace-hotel.com) and response to inquiry came within hours. I also booked airport pick-up (15 USD) from them to avoid the local taxi hassle when arriving. Double room (100 USD per night) was spacious. Very comfortable king size... more

We spent two nights at the Dhow Palace while on a brief trip to Zanzibar. We were happy with our stay, and the hotel gave us a good flavor of the town because of its location and architectural design. Some of the other hotels we saw in Stonetown definitely looked more plush, but we were happy with the value and... more
