We've now stayed at the Dhow Palace for the last three years for a bit of relaxation after volunteering & travelling in Tanzania. It's a beautiful hotel, full of history and charm. A great place to chill out with a book on the roof terrace or by the pool and a good base in the heart of Stonetown. The service... More

We stayed at Dhow Palace for a couple nights when we first arrived in Zanzibar and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel has been beautifullly restored and is located in a fantastic location in the heart of Stone Town (which really isn't big.) Staff were friendly and the breakfast buffet was plentiful. The pool is a lovely respite from... More

My husband found Dhow Palace online and really liked room 40, so we stayed two nights to check out Stonetown. The architecture is in the traditional local style – the floors rise around a central courtyard with pool and restaurant. The landings on each floor are decorated with interesting artwork and furniture – it was fun to browse and look.... More

We had a very pleasant few days in the Dhow Palace - great atmosphere in the heart of Stone Town. On checking out we were obliged to pay cash (about $500) for the room as the payment card links were down. The was inconvenient as we had to walk up to the bank again and were hurrying to catch a... I have stayed at this hotel for at least a week for the past 4 years. It is a great location in the heart of the most historic part of Stonetown. The central courtyard and the swimming pool are like an oasis to shelter from the heat of the day. There are 2 types of bedroom depending on whether you... More

We were booked in this hotel as part of a larger tour package. From the previous reviews I assumed that it was at the top end and perfect for our final stay before heading home. We were really looking forward to staying here, as we had a hectic trip and was looking forward to some luxury before we left. However... More

Awesome swimming pool and bedroom! You will love it. FYI: Alcohol is forbidden there. The food was good. Good location in Stone Town. You will like the bathroom too. Also, good customer service. The design is beutiful inside the hotel.

A ten minute drive from the airport and a little meander through the alleys of Stonetown to this lovely hotel. The reception lobby gives a hint of whats to come, with a tropical courtyard garden in one half and a swimming pool in another open courtyard in the other half of the hotel. The rooms are spacious with beds for... More

After many years of being a Tanzanian resident and returning to Zanzibar to do some work I stayed here for a few nights (but then shifted to Zanzibar Beach Resort for a better deal (only $20 more) with a beach front)...the hotel needs some updating, but the ambience is traditional for Zanzibar.... breakfast is disgusting! There are also a lot... More

We have stayed in the Dhow Palace with seven groups of friends over the past few years. Each time has been a wonderful experience. The staff and management are very pleasant and helpful. We feel that they are old friends. The location allows our groups to discover Stone Town and to arrange excursions to other parts of the island. It... More
