Stayed for 1 night as part of a tour, the rooms were ok with shared bathrooms and the breakfast was ok but I wouldn't rush back. If you need somewhere basic to stay in Stone Town its ok but I imagine it gets most of its business through Tours. more

I always stay at the Karibu Inn if I am in Stonetown. This is a no frills backpacker hostel and you get what you pay for. Rooms are cheap and very simple but clean with mosquito nets and fans. 16 of us stayed here en route from Nairobi to Cape Town by truck. We found it to be pretty basic but at least it kept the rain out. Some of my camping upgrades were better for the same price. Staff are friendly and fine. Location is good for Stone Town but we all found Stone Town to be disappointing. more

Karibu Inn is good for backpackers as rooms are clean and have en suite bathroom. Good location for water front and exploring the town. Safe to leave bags during the day before moving on. more
