There were bed bugs all over our beds in the first room, and in all the rooms on thr ground floor. And the person there refused to admit these were actually bugs, even after seeing them crawling around! I finally moved to a room on the 3rd floor that appeared to be bug free. We killed two bugs in the first room. They changed us to another room, and found bedbugs there too. Had paid for 3 nights, and they were VERY reluctant to refund any money. It was like a 2-hour hassle with them. If it was clean, it would be an acceptable low-end hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights. Friendly staff, clean and reasonably priced. Good mosquito net with no holes and large comfy bed. Decent breakfast although watch out for the crows eyeing up your food! I also like the location which is just out of stone town, so its a but less hectic. I would stay here again.

The Garden Lodge is a budget hotel, do not expect any luxury but it has all you need to visit Stone town.
