Hidden in the maze of alleys, you need to run the gauntlet of tourist touts and shops to reach it. Its worth it as the building is magnificent and opulent. Try to get your taxi driver to walk you down the alley to the hotel – ours did and doubled his modest tip. The beds rooms are beautiful, huge and... more

I expect that this place used to be excellent (as Emerson & Green), but it seems that the place has not had a good clean since the change in management. We booked here due to the fact that previous reviews stated that it was something completely different and a great experience which it maybe used to be... It is priced... more

Very beautiful hotel situated perfectly for exploring stone town. I stayed two nights in the West Room and thought it was the most unique and beautiful room Ive ever stayed. Walls were made of lattice with a small balcony. I didnt have air-con, but didnt feel I needed it (I was basically sleeping in the open air on a rooftop!),... more

We spent two nights of our honeymoon here and if it had been any longer we would have moved hotels. Perhaps it was damp bedroom which was far from clean. It is a shame because the Keep Suite could have been beutiful. The views from the roof terrace were stunning. But having to get into the damp rather smelly bed,... more

We stayed for 1 night at the end of our holiday. The Tour Suite was elegant and had its own private roof top tea garden. It was bed and breakfast rate. Breakfast was served in the roof top restaurant and was good, a selection of hot and cold food. We booked dinner in the roof top restaurant, it has stunning... more

Excellent choice of hotel if you are looking for something a little different. Very eclectic decoration for each room, most of them with a 'stone bath' built in. Plumbing is in need of some attention for sure. Most rooms with air-con although some of the rooms on the top floor are only with a fan. Air-con really is a necessity... more

We loved the uniqueness of this hotel...We stayed in the Ballroom suite and were blown away by the size...it was huge and also had a great balcony overhanging the street. If you want a cookie-cutter hotel with phone, TV and room service look elsewhere. This hotel is perfect for people who want more of a cultural experience...high ceilings, antique furnishings,... more

We stayed for two nights at the hotel and were extremeley dissapointed with our basic room (we were on honeymoon too), the shower was situated over the toilet and the room was very small when compared to many of the other stately rooms. We paid a fair price to stay their and enjoy the charm but how wrong we were.... more

We stayed here on our honeymoon because we had heard it was atmospheric and lovely, which we found to be true. We were shocked at the standard of cleanliness, however. We paid $250 for the Keep suite, only to find that the floors hadn't been swept when we arrived, leaving them dirty and littered with dead bugs (including a cockroach).... more
