For me, the trip to the jungle was just something my dad wanted to do. He'd been with my mom to Lima and Machu Picchu before and wanted to try something different in addition to those destinations. In my mind, it was a speed bump on the road to the main event. it ended up being the highlight of our... more

Travelled to this lodge with a small group - beautiful grounds and facility, well worth the trip. My cabin was bright and airy, and well sealed against insects. I especially enjoyed the hammock out front. Meals were okay. I really appreciated the guided walks around the lodge and boat ride on the oxbow lake. Lots of bird and animal sightings... more

I am a pretty laid back person. I usually stay in hostels so the lodge was luxury compared to what I am used to. I really like the food. It was the only place that I dared eat eggs while in Peru. I booked the 4 day/ 3 night Scarlet trip where I had to camp out in the forest... more

We stayed here for 2 nites as part of our Peru trip with the excellent GAP Adventures. It is a trek to get here, a 1 hour flight from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado, 20 minutes to the little port and then a 3 hour boatride down the Tambopata river, but the scenery along the way is breathtaking..the river is a... more

We flew into Puerto Maldonado to get to Libertador Tambopata Eco-Lodge. Puerto Maldonado is located 55 km west of the Bolivian border at the confluence of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios River, a tributary of the Amazon River. Nearby are mountainous cloud forests and low-lying rainforests containing some of the richest biodiversity and most interesting ecosystems on earth. Our... more

We went to Libertador Tambopata as part of a 10 day GAP tour. As the other reviewers have remarked, it does take over 3 hours to get to the lodge but it is the experience of getting there that is a fun part of the trip. You're cruising on the amazon for 2+ hours, while on the look out for... more

Flying over the snow capped 5000m high Andes and seeing the mountains give way to the vast Amazon rainforest is an incredible experience. To fully appreciate the rainforest and the importance it plays in terms of both the environment and South American politics, staying there is a must, and you can do so in style at the Libertador Tambopata Lodge.... more

I was with a group of 18 people (all ages) traveling to Peru for 10 days. We were at the Jungle Lodge for two nights. TRANSPORTATION - You need to get to Puerto Maldonado first where you drop your bags at an office and pack only what you will need for the stay. You then take a one to two... more
