The block we were put in had what can only be described as an animal smell in both the communal areas and the room. There was insufficient light in the dorm room. Three toasters in the kitchen, none of which worked. This is expensive compared to other hostels in New Zealand which are far superior. It just didn't feel clean. more

This was the best place we stayed in NZ. It's a great hostel right opposite the waterfront in a lovely little town. The location is great, the staff were friendly and helpful.
