High Country Inn (and spa - what a joke) is terrible in every way. Without a doubt the worst place I've ever stayed in my life. Our room keys barely worked - it took 75 swipes one time to open our door. There was no pressure in the shower, and the shower curtain was old. The faucet leaked and I... more

I booked a room here because everything else was pretty much taken. I wasn't expecting much because it was quite cheap but it was worse than I expected. The hotel is really run down and outdated. We had two rooms and I about three working light bulbs between them. The worse thing though is at about 230 in the morning... more

Left with no other options, we booked 2 rooms at this HORRIBLE place!! STAINED up bedding in one room, mold, spiderwebs, NASTY smell!!! Looked to be BLOOD STAINS on the underside of my spread!! Had to run to the store to get Febreez and candles for the smell and lysol wipes to clean up!! The girl working last night was... more

I was very dissapointed in this place. There was vomit on the wall (still chunked and dried), a big black glob of hair int the stained black bath tub drain, the lock was broken off our door, the carpet was filthy and had huge burns in it, and the wallpaper was peeling off the wall, due to all the mold... more

I will NEVER stay there again. My room had spider webs all around the ceiling with actual live spiders. Smelled, sheets dirty, floor dirty and very run down. Rates too high for such a room. Cold water for shower, no shampoo, etc. No sign of toilet being sanitized. Overall just nasty and not worth the stay. more

A couple of weekends ago my Husband 12 yr. old and 1year old stay three nights at the High Country Inn. My husband and I had stayed there about 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. On a whim we decided to go to boone straight from our week stay at the NC coast. We looked the number up and... more

First it was very outdated, torn bedspreads just a party place everything beat an torn up. Sheets not changed, we found hairs in the bed. All other hotels were booked we looked right away. They changed our room to another room. The next room had a broken chair, dirty walls. Unfortunately we had to stay, so we went and got... more

The hotel is well-positioned near a yummy diner (off hotel property) and has some scenic areas of grounds. We found our room in a bit of cosmetic disrepair (problems with furniture appearance and whatnot) and found the hotel quite noisy on the weekend we stayed (Appalachian State University homecoming weekend). more

We attempted to stay at this hotel but even my husband who has stayed at 'fishing' hotels for years said it was just too filthy to stay. We didn't even spend the night but chose to drive back home rather than risk catching whatever was crawling on those nasty beds or that disgusting bathroom. more

So, it comes as a disadvantage that the night before this hotel stay, my wife and I had stayed at a Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta. However, we were booked at this hotel by a group that we were going to be working with the next day. Driving up to the hotel, it looks like an older but cute hotel - the... more
