Nu Wray Inn has some distinct positives and, sadly, some distinct negatives. It is a very large, three-story, wooden building, with a wonderful, first-floor sitting area with fireplace, and a large, second-story living room with a balcony that overlooks the town square. It has ample free parking directly in front of, or adjacent to, the building. The Inn is situated... more

The NuWray Inn is a historic inn on the square in downtown Burnsville, NC. It's a quintessential old "small town square" and the inn fits its setting. The price for staying overnight includes breakfast which is served at individual tables at times, and at other times as a buffet. It always includes eggs, some sort of meat, and pancakes or... more

If you can overlook the peeling paint on the outside of this old hotel, you'll find an old but nice dining room with leather chairs and linen tablecloths, good food, very friendly service and a charming old inn with a restaurant that reminds me of the Shady Rest Hotel from Petticoat Junction. We had lunch here while visiting Burnsville. The... more

Located on the Burnsville town square, the inn must have really been something in its day. Yes, the floors creak and the entire place looks worn, but we loved it. It's clean, warm, and friendly, with good food. Burnsville is a sleepy town off of the regular tourist routes, which made the whole experience even better. You need to stay... more

My husband amd I have stayed at the NuWray Inn several times in the past two years and have each time felt like family. Isn't that what an Inn is for? Most of this is due to the care and feeding of Rosemary Chandler, owner of the Inn. She treats everyone like family, keeps her prices almost too low, and,... more

What a wonderful find in the middle of the NC mountains! Having been to Burnsville several times previously, I knew not to expect a 5 star mega-hotel in this quaint mountain town and had set myself up for disappointment. Not so with the NuWray Inn! I found this gem to be a wonderfully quaint (if a little warm with no... more

We really needed the respite when ye trekked to the mountains. The day before my wife called me to tell me that our house had been robbed...burgled really and we no longer felt absolutely safe in our home. Thankfully we had an event to go to in North Carolina and reservations made for the NuWray Inn. The inn is very... more

If you like uncomfterble beds and unfriendly staff this cheesey inn is the right place for you. This truely horrible inn is in need of a paint job and at night the inn feels like a ghost twon. The most uncomfterble thing about the inn is the inkeeper Rosemary Strickland who is suprisingly unfriendly to children and when you enter... more

This is a hard review to write. The Nu Wray Inn has a lot going for it. Externally, it's a charming historic structure. The entrance lobby is atmospheric with some antiques, lovely old rugs. The current owner is a very nice English lady who tries very hard to make you welcome. Breakfast was delicious - a real southern treat -... more

Hello, My friend and I spent Christmas 2003 at the NuWray Inn. What a quaint, homey and interesting Inn. Having a restaurant at the Inn was really nice and the food was good. The owners were great, always havailableand they had special "goodies" throughout our visit. The Baptist Church across the Town Square had a beautiful Christmas Eve service. There... more
