This hotel is trying very hard to be more than just an average three and a half stars, and I think they succeed above and beyond. I arrived after a very trying flight that had been delayed three hours. When I finally arrived at the Marriott I was in a bad mood, to say the least. However, the staff was so... More

My husband and I stayed here one night following a procedure at Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center. Not the closest accommodations to the Surgery Center, and not the least expensive; however, if that's your reason for a stay, the service makes the slightly extra travel time worth it. We found this Marriott to be a comfortable, gracious place to relax--whether you're... More

We stayed here because we were going to a show at the Carolina Theater. I had searched on Google maps for a nearby hotel and saw this one. Little did I realize that 'nearby' translated to 'physically attached to the theater'! There is a doorway from the hotel property that leads outside right by the door to the theater. (There... More

The room was large and clean and the beds comfortable. The location of the hotel was good. We had breakfast (included in our room rate) was excellent. There is a free shuttle service (NOT to and from airport) that takes you a 5 mile radius. This was helpful and we used it a number of times (driver was nice but... More

I have stayed in this location many times, but I felt compelled to review after my recent stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable. It is not luxurious but it is nice. One of the things that I have found is that if you are in a hurry, eating breakfast in the hotel restuarant is a bad idea. The last... More

We were very disappointed to hear about your experience, and we have shared your comments with our staff to ensure that corrective actions are taken. We do not want this to be your lasting impression of our team, and would like another opportunity to show you why our service is ranked in the top 15% of all Marriott 's nationwide,... More

If you need (or want) to stay in downtown Durham, the Marriott seems to be the only real option from what I could see. The staff is friendly and helpful and are doing the best with what they have. The hotel is relatively modern and well maintained, but the rooms are somewhat dated (but clean). Forget valet parking though. It... More

We hope you enjoyed your stay in downtown this month, and we are pleased that you stayed with our property. Thank you very much for your feedback, as we are constantly striving for improvement. Our last full renovation was completed the end of 2008, where we implemented Marriott's most recent design and decor standard. Downtown Durham continues to grow, and... More

The Marriott Durham is an excellent hotel with exceptional service. What makes this hotel stand apart from the rest is the positive energy from the staff there. The hotel is located near the civic theatre but the area seemed oddly quiet despite its proximity to downtown. However one can walk to most of the nice dining which is about 3... More

We are very glad that you enjoyed your visit with us, and really experienced some of the great dining here in downtown. I stayed at the Marriott City Center Sept. 15-17 for a business conference. The hotel was very nice. Clean, comfortable. The room was nice, comfortable, clean bed. Clean bathroom. Just what you expect on a business trip. No surprises. Stylish enough. The folks who worked there are very nice. There is a fantastic little bakery/sandwich shop 1/2 block from the... More

It is wonderful to hear when guests are enjoying some of the great spots right outside the Hotel's doors. 9th Street Bakery is a staff favorite too; I have started many a morning with one of their delicious pastries! Thank you for taking time to share your stay experience with us, and know that we truly value and share each... More

I stayed here for 1 night in April. I arrived at 3:00 pm and checked out at 10:30 the next morning. Parking is free, but the lot is not adjacent to the hotel. You have to cross the street and go behind the banquet hall(?). If you’re traveling with someone, you can drop them off with the luggage at the... More
