Had to negotiate to arrive at the rate already quoted to my sister; the air conditioner responded on its own schedule (controls confusing and no "instant gratification" to warm room); mattresses mushy, worn out. I stay at Hampton Inns 10 or 12 times a year... this one a total surprise (and not a good one). more

No doubt one has to pay a little extra considering the location. Highlands is a beautiful town. And we expected Hampton Inn to have a level of quality we are used to. Not so. This is the only chain hotel in downtown Highlands (though I think the Historic Highlands Inn is also owned by the Hilton Group). The hotel is just a couple of mins walk from the start of the shops etc, and about 5-7 mins walk from the main restaurants and shops in the town. Very convenient indeed!
