The MOST awful experience I've ever had at a hotel! The management was RUDE to say the least. Our room was right beside the front desk and was VERY noisy. We did change rooms but the next room was even worse. 4 younger adults stayed here and we were treated like CRAP! We were very quiet and respectful and were... more

I stayed at the inn during the off-season 4/08. I must say for the price I was expecting just a little more. They advertise a continental breakfast, no such thing actually exists. The room was ok, they booked me in a partial ocean view even though my original reservation didn't include one which was a big plus. It makes the... more

WARNING - PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE BOOKING I would seriously disregard any positive reviews of this place - please read this below before considering staying here: We were going to OBX for one night so we could do some cake testings for our wedding and decided to stay here because it was the cheapest - big mistake. Our first room... more

It was great to find an oceanfront hotel like this one for a weekend of good weather on the Outer Banks. The room was affordable and I enjoyed the sound of the ocean right outside my bedroom. I would recommend the hotel it was pretty close to restaurants and shops. more

The Quality Inn John Yancey was our hotel choice during a weekend trip to the Outer Banks. A previous review of this hotel in TripAdvisor had a management response stating the hotel has undergone a complete renovation in the winter of 2008. The renovation was currently in progress as we arrived, and upon checking in, we were greeted by a... more

I booked this hotel off of Travelation. My fiance and I were visiting OBX for a wedding event, and therefore booked a "Oceanfront" hotel room with balcony for two nights at QIJY. The room is nice, a great king bed. The room is clean and they have a microwave, fridge, coffee pot, a little sink, and some cups and plates... more

We had read a few good reviews for this hotel and were very unpleasantly surprised when we arrived. The room's walls were cinder block which wasn't a huge problem other than it seemed to attract spiders. The slider door did not have a screen so since there were no windows and you wanted fresh air the whole door had to... more

The Quality Inn John Yancey has ungone a complete renovation of the Main Building and Sea Building rooms in the winter 2008. All rooms in these buildings have been completely gutted and renovated, repainted, and bathrooms gutted and revamp. I encourage past guests to give the Yancey another chance now that we offer like-new rooms.

My husband and I went for 1st trip to this part of Outer Banks and liked that this hotel was on the beach. We stayed on 3rd floor of Four Seasons bldg, with ocean view. Would have liked to have ocean front, but were told available rooms had double beds, and we prefer queen or king. Could see some of... more

As any first-time tourist to a new area, I was out and about my first full day in the Outer Banks. Upon coming back to the hotel that evening, I found that my room door was left unlocked and open by the cleaning staff. I discovered the night before that for the door to remain locked, you had to give... more

I will definetely go back to the John Yancey Quality Inn. We were right on the beach - literally. Open the door and step right out onto the sand. We had no mold in our room and I never saw the first cat (which wouldn't bother me since I love animals). The pool is also very nice. There were 4... more
