i called long distance to talk to staff, nice and friendly. older property, and it shows. decor is ok, but not up to newer Holiday Inn Express hotels. Needed a place close to the beach for one night. Didn't plan on spending too much time in the room since both of my kids are outdoor types. Hotel is not on the beach and does not have easy access to one within walking distance. Staff was nice and provided a crib and wouldn't take a tip when they delivered... more

When we stepped into the elevator we noticed a very noticeable cigarette odor - when we stepped out at our floor it was even worse. Although we stayed in a non smoking room, the halls reeked of tobacco and the smell was so pervasive that the towels also smelled of cigarettes. The room was musty and damp so I slept... more

Wow for what we paid I would expect a lot more. Room was run down, mattresses in need of replacement. Dirty areas, lousey sink in hallway with little room. Noisy room, no screens in windows, view was of garbage on the roof, refrigerator was dirty, bathroom was so narrow had to enter it sideways then squash against wall to close the door, lobby smelled of clorox and the staff seemed stressed and not super friendly. Everyone on the staff was very friendly and responsive, Mary even went above the call of duty to call me when an extra night became available on the busy 4th of July weekend. My husband and I recently spent a week at the Holiday Inn Express at Kitty Hawk. The room we received was ready at exactly 3:30 pm. Rooms are guarenteed for 4:00 pm. We were in the area for a business meeting, but have vacationed in the Outer Banks for many years. We were very disappointed in the mattress on the bed.
