This motel is okay if you just want to spend the day at the beach and sight-see. The price is one of the lowest in the area. I have to have coffee in the room...had to buy a coffee maker, as there isn't one. We requested a room with the kitchenette, but when we arrived, were told that we needed... more

It is an older property that shows signs of aging. We chose the hotel because we wanted a clean room. The owners are very nice and cordial. We were coming to see my daughter who was working in Manteo for the summer and we wanted something close to the ocean that wasn't too expensive. The Tar Heel Motel was reasonably priced and in a great location. The rooms were clean and so was the pool area. more

We just returned from a great weekend stay at the Tar Heel Motel. While we normally stay in Hilton's or Hampton Inns, we opted for a less expensive motel this trip and ended up having a great time. We stayed at the Tar Heel Motel in July. Rates were great. We were on the Beach Road across the street from the beach. Beach access was just a few steps away.
