We stayed for 8 days at Aspros Potamos and we loved it! Really where we were looking for, something different, in nature, with a lot of silence and calmness. Birds singing all day long, the sound of the river and reading a book. On the other hand there a plenty things to do, walking to the beach, restaurants and shops... More

We booked 3 nights at Asprospotamus. We requested House #1 as it is on one level. When we arrived there was no one in reception just a note that we had house #5. Finally Helena arrived and we had a short discussion outside Reception where she told us about the walk up the gorge and asked if we wanted breakfast.... More

Peace, beauty and away from the buzz, come to Aspros Potamos. Here you have something different from what you ever have seen or experienced on Crete before. It is romantic and a kind of "back to basic" without electricity powering nothing else than you fridge, but don't worry, you still have hot water, a gas stove/oven and the most beautiful... More

When planning our (very deserved) holiday, we found Aspros Potamos Houses by chance on the web, and it was the first place we both liked at first sight. Getting there was easy, as we had received very precise driving instructions (and as there are sign posts on Makry Gialos' main road). Not having too much light actually helped us to... More

As with most of the other reviewers, I found the cottages easily with good signage. The cottages are gorgeous and lovely to stay in although as one other reviewer said it is helpful to adjust to the daylight hours to do things that need you to see well. We stayed in cottage 3 which was very cosy. The only down... More

Aspros Potamos is definitely worth a visit. In fact, you won't have many chances in a lifetime to spend a night (almost) like the cretan villagers did centuries ago. The beauty of the little renovated village is unquestionable and reminds you of the greek word "kalaisthisia", which means something more than simple beauty and something wider than simple taste. What... More

Just back from a week in Aspros Potamos - and we really didn't want to come home! The "village" is truly exceptional. Very old, traditional Cretan houses have been restored with great sympathy so have not lost any of their charm and character. There are oil lamps and candles for lighting, although there is also a fluorescent light in the... More

I stayed in Aspros Potamos for 1 month and I have never experienced anything like it. The light, the sound of the wind, the river and birds through the valley, the absolute absence of any disturbing noise was so soothing, I will definitely be back. The houses are very authentic, traditional buildings, built with great respect for the environment. Inside... More

Apartments are all sympathetic conversions of old farm buildings, and have great charm. They overlook a semi-rural small valley with a lovely clear stream (though this runs dry by summer time) which made for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere - just what we wanted. Rooms are simply but comfortably furnished and lit mainly by oil lamps (very atmospheric) though we... More

Spent there 4 days in August. The room was very comfortable and clean. The location is very peaceful. The service is exceptional. Antonis gave us precious advise for places to visit and restaurants to eat. Make sure to try the delicious breakfast prepared from local delicacies. I would higly recommend this hotel to people who want to relax in a... More
