I had heard only good things of this hotel, and every word of it was true! This was a real pearl - clean, pretty modern, cozy, very friendly and welcoming staff and great breakfast. Mundaka is a small village, but close enough to Bermeo where I was on business. I will certainly return to this hotel.

You arrive here through a maze of very narrow and rather dull streets to find a rather charming building with a warm welcome from the proprietor and his receptionist. Nice location overlooking the square where childen play - noisily until late a night! But only a stone's throw from the little working harbour and a couple of decent restaurants. Our... More

We stayed one night in this charming hotel.I went there for the surf which wasn't working(I anticipate it needs a big swell with a strong off shore wind),anyway don't be deterred the town is a delight. The rooms are small so make sure you get one with a view of the square. The staff are great & parking next door is not... This hotel is brilliant. Proof that the "star" system is flawed. i.e. a two star brilliant hotel; (with no pool or gym which gain stars) kicks the butt of all 3 and 4 star hotels in the mid range. Mundaka is a really charming authentic fishing village. The manager of the hotel is fantastic. I have no complaints about this... More

We are both in our 50's and doing a road trip of the northern Spanish coast. We had two nights at this hotel and it is simply fantastic. The place is spotless and the fishing village wonderful. Small hotels of this standard at very reasonable cost are hard to come by. Give this a try. With free secure car parking,... More

We had a wonderful time in Mundaka and at Atalaya. We got to choose between 3 rooms, which were all beautiful in their own way. The breakfast buffet is great, and well worth the money. The staff are all friendly and offers the best service. Of our 10day trip in France and Spain, this was the best hotel by far,... More

We decided to stay in Mundaka instead of Bilbao since there was a local train, easy to use, to get to the Guggenheim. The Hotel Atalaya was perfect. We were in room 22 looking out over the central square and the water. The alcove terrace was a perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. The staff was... More

A fantastic small town, with almost no places to eat, but an overwhelming spot, with a cosy intimacy. The harbor has small cafés and good vibrations. The hotel is very well situated, remember to get a room on top, with a small balcony. We went there in 2008 traveling around in Basque country

This small hotel is situated right on the square where all the townspeople congregate and the children play. All the rooms are nice, with very large modern baths and lots of hot water. My husband and I had room #22 at the front of the building. It had a large sunroom/balcony where we sat out, had a glass of wine,... More

Lovely hotel and tapas bar located right in the centre of beautiful Mundaka. Rooms are a bit dated but it gives them a great charm and personality. Everything is very clean and works perfectly. Service is great both for hotel guests and at the tapas bar. Breakfast is fresh and plentiful. Our room had a great little balcony overlooking the... More
