One night stay on our way to W.A. David was an absolute gentleman, excellent customer service. Room was great, bed comfortable and all in room amenities very good. Would have no problems in passing on recommendations and would return.

My sister and I recently spent a couple of nights at this motel on a short trip to Wallaroo, Moonta and Kadina. We found the accommodation to be clean, tidy and pleasant. Linen and towels were good quality and tea and coffee facilities very welcome as was the bottle of milk proffered on our arrival. We only had breakfast on... More

I passed through on a long road trip and wanted a clean, quiet and decent value motel. I found the SONBERN LODGE - It is so nice that it sort of defies explanation... Lovely room in a courtyard, elegant high ceiling, in the period of the balance of the property. Bed - comfortable... We had a power outage - in... More

This lodge was a delight - the room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The establishment didn't provide meals, but there were two hotels within close proximity where we could eat. Not a lot of off-street parking provided though. Would definitely recommend.

We did an "overnight" at the Sonbern Lodge because we couldn't get in anywhere else, due to our last minute booking coinciding with Australia Day weekend. We weren't expecting too much, as the building looked old (but appealing due to heritage), but the price was attractive. David and Maria were our hosts and were very nice to us. The motel... More

Arrived at 4pm after a phone call and a missed call looking for us. Paid $150 dollars a night for two nights to stay at what reminded me of Grandma's. Early 60's decor Situated on Emu street way away from the jetty. Facilities had years of crusting on it. Woken at 6.30 by heavy machinery at the demolition site that... More

I have stayed at the Sonbern several times due to work commitments on the West Coast (close to the ferry). The motel rooms out the back are extremely comfortable, quiet and well equipped. They don't have a dining room but will deliver breakfast and the hotel down the road has very good meals. The marina apartments are far too expensive... More

The Motel is still amazing. I have to be totally honest here though and say that we were very disappointed in the welcome when we arrived and now will not return. We drove in 45 degree weather and although we arrived much earlier than we should, the reception we got from the manager was cold to say the least. We... More

The bed was comfortable and the air conditioner worked really well. My partner and I stayed just after Christmas for 2 nights. I have stayed here previously for work trips and decided to return as it had all that we needed for a few days away. The rooms are very clean, plenty of storage space and as we stayed in one of the outside units had a microwave fridge and basic... More
