The Brookstown Inn is charming and very conveniently located to Old Salem, the visitors center, and a very good restaurant. The staff were cordial and accomodating, and the complimentary breakfast and bedtime cookies and milk were a treat! Our room was spacious and comfortable. The first room we were assigned had an unpleasant odor, like a cat had been there,... more

My wife and I have travelled extensively and stayed at hotels in the US and overseas. Some of those hotels have been very expensive, well managed and well maintained. Some, due to scheduling and availability, have been really bad. My wife and I are in agreement that we have never enjoyed a hotel stay as much as our stays at... more

My family of 4 stayed here for a night and visited Old Salem, which was a great experience. The Inn is unique in that it is not like all other hotel rooms where every room is the same. It really is a boutique hotel in that it has a more at home feel to it rather than decor set up... more

The room was fantastic! We were upgraded when our regular room was not ready at check in. We stayed in the executive nonsmoking King suite. All was fabulous except the bathtub which was surrounded by mildew and the bedroom vent covered in mildew/mold. Buy some Tilex and fix that problem in 10 minutes! I would have done it myself if... more

Loved our visit to Brookstown Inn. Short walk to Old Salem along parklike path. Friendly staff, good evening fresh cookies. We had dinner at the Cotton Mill and were very pleased. A little tiny negative - the breakfast was just OK. Our room was a split level and we liked having the sitting area to watch TV in. more

The staff was very friendly and willing to help with directions and whatever else was needed. They gave us reviews on the local restaurants that suited our interests. The hotel smelled wonderful and was spotless. Our room was immaculate, more than what we expected. There was wine and cheese and milk and cookies as were advertised in the evening. And... more

Stayed here 8 years ago and had fond memories. This time the AC in the room didn't work so they eventually changed our room but not until after I got "attitude" from the front desk. The room we were given had 2 full bed not queen beds and was a smoking room when I said something to the desk, more "attitude".... more

We booked this hotel after seeing the website. The pictures were not true to life. We booked a queen suite with garden tub for our anniversary. It was advertised as being cozy and comfortable. Instead, the sofa and the bed were the cheapest quality, very hard and uncomfortable. The room was small and felt cramped. The garden tub was just... more

My husband and I decided to stay at the Brookstown Inn because of its proximity to Old Salem. Our queen suite was ready at check-in time, and the employee who signed us in was friendly and gracious. The room was spacious, clean, and well outfitted. The bed was comfortable, which is not usual at most hotel/motel accommodations where we have... more

Very good option for staying in Winston-Salem, close to Old Salem and Downtown, and a short distance from exit 5C on I-40BR. Quiet, tree-laden street. Very good restaurant next door. Unexpectedly large room. The front desk made an error in our stay (we booked for two nights, but told next morning we had only one night; problem was fixed, but... more
