It is not evident to have always a good service in the hotels on the island. This hotel has a very correct service for a 5*hotel, good classic food and a execellent view. more
Now, whilst I don't want to appear to discredit other TripAdvisor reviewers, I can't help but think some may have missed a trick when writing their reviews of the Mount Lavinia Hotel. The hotel was built in 1806 and its theme is the 1800s to early 1900s colonial period, as demonstrated by the short-trouser wearing bellboys stood outside the hotel... more
We stayed in the Mount Lavinia in February 2009 and also got married at the Hotel. Our entire stay was hassle free from beginning to end and all the staff especially the manager Mr Lal ensured that our wedding day was extra special. We were immediately taken with the appearance of this beautiful Grand old Hotel. we stayed in a... more
Mount Lavinia was the first stop on our trip of Sri Lanka. However, despite all this which made us fairly fraught travellers the staff were excellent. The rooms were a bit... more
We came here two years ago and ate at the sea-cove restaurant, which has an amazing array of sea-food (naturally) and styles of cooking. We loved it so much we returned two years later to get married here. It was amazing ! We had a beautiful beach wedding and the staff could not have been more helpful. We had a... more
I'm sorry to say that despite being eager to return to the Mount Lavinia hotel with my partner after a great experience there before, my visit this time was sorely disappointing. The original building is incredible - a gleaming edifice of white marble. Doormen clad in spotless white uniforms leap to attention on your arrival, and a glass of juice... more
