This hotel was quite basic but the staff and management are very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean, and the linen was changed very regularly. Ideal for access to the beach, 2 minute walk. Shops were a 5 minute walk away, so ideal location. I was staying on my own, and found it very safe and secure. A... more

Stayed at Tropic Inn for five nights in November, and also took a 2 night / 3 day trip to the cultural triangle (Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya), including a stop at the Elephant Orphanage on the way back to Colombo. This trip was organised through the lovely Tropic Inn folks. Our rooms (26 & 34) were both quite large, comfortable... more

When my wife & I are on holiday in Sri Lanka, this is the only Hotel we took a great liking, from our first visit itself. All the departments in this Hotel are excellent, but the Rooms & Service along with the Buffet Breakfast gets the Maximum stars. In short when our holiday comes to an end , my wife... more

The Hotel has been brilliant to stay in on a budget, it has all you need. Some of the rooms are smaller and so if it is too small they are great to be able to move. The food downstairs is good but expect to wait a while ( however this is normal in Sri Lanka). Whatever your needs the... more

It was my 1st stay at Tropic Inn and was pleased with the humbleness with which the staff takes care of you all the time. The breakfast spread offered easyly matches any Holiday inn Express in North America. Rooms are well maintained and very clean and comfortable. The management of this hotel should be commended for not offering the hotel... more

Dirty sheets, broken doors, terribly uncomfortable beds with dirty sheets, tiny rooms, closet with no doors.. Although you are being charged very little for the rooms, you would expect a basic level of cleanliness and comfort that the inn does not offer you. On the plus side, truly friendly staff. more

Our hotel is not bad as the review sounds. We do our very best to keep our hotel clean and free from insects. We don't provide dirty sheets and our doors are not broken. Our hotel is nothing like what this guest says. Our hotel is fully booked 90% of the year. If our hotel was bad people will not...

Stayed here for one night after reading nice reviews here at TripAdvisor. The hotel is terrible! It is on the level of a guest house or a hostel, only with ensuite bathroom. I had a room at the very top, under the roof. It was awful – small, practically the size of the bed, dirty and worn out. Bed sheets... more

My friend and I have just returned from a three week stay at the Tropic Inn. It is a clean hotel which is completely safe for two women travelling alone. The staff are friendly, speak good English and attend to anything you ask of them. Nothing is too much trouble and there is always a friendly smile! The rooms are... more

The Tropic Inn was fantastic. We had a great room on the first floor, really large. Admittedly it was for three people but I looked into the other rooms for two and they were a good size too. We had our own bathroom and could not ask for more. Sheets and towells were spotless, breakfast was really great and I... more
