Every three years we stay at the Broadwater while attending the Celtic Colours Festival. We meet other musicians there who all bring their instruments for our daily jam sessions. The host, John, is a fantastic story teller... full of the lore of Cape Breton, and hilarious to boot. It's really homey... with no pretensions, but a nice selection of rooms... more

We spend three nights at the Broadwayter Inn in August. The Inn Keeper, John Pino, was very accommodating. He was also very knowledgeable about the area and offered us many suggestions concerning the Cabot Trail. He suggested we visit the Celtic Lodge which was wonderful. The breakfast was very good. I especially enjoyed the raspberry jam and the omelet. Our... more

Stayed at the Broadwater recently with my husband in one cottage and another couple in an adjoining unit. The location was great and the housekeeping units perfect for our needs. Nicely decorated, nice decks with Barbeque. Clean and comfortable - staff were very friendly. Would stay again. more

We 1st booked the Broadwater (Verandah Suite and East Room) in 2007. The rooms were clean and comfortable. John, the innkeeper, made us feel at home on our first visit to Cape Breton and gave us recommendations for sights to see --- all of which were wonderful. Location is great - we prefer being away from the center of town.... more

After staying at over 300 B&B's and reviewing approx. 265 of them, I have a good feeling for what should be expected from a B&B. This is the poorest example of a B&B in the tradition and intent of a B&B. The first thing that strikes me wrong was the practice of paying before you depart, "because the host would... more

My two brothers and I, having concluded a four-day 200-mile bicycle ride around Cape Breton, spent our final night at the Broadwater. We found the Baycroft suite to be spacious, comfortable, and very nicely appointed. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the grounds were very nicely appointed. Should we return to Baddeck, we would make the Broadwater our first... more

Beautiful spot, historic property, nicely decorated, very convenient to Cabot Trail, etc. Saw a bald eagle from our deck! The host, John, is very congenial, and knowledgeable about local history, as well as estimated drive times, where to eat, what to do and see in the area. My husband and I stayed in the West rm in the Inn and... more

The Broadwater Inn and the owners have been great for us. We looked for a comfortable, clean, quiet and central location for Cape Breton. We also wanted a cottage so we could prepare a bunch of our own meals and have a living room. Situated about 2 Km from town it is a good walk for coffee and a paper... more

We booked the "new" cabin at the Broadwater that is located on the shore road perhaps a quarter mile down the road from the Inn and the other cabins. It sits back from the road but has a beautiful view of the Bras d'Or and is pleasantly secluded and quiet. It is a short drive to all of the restaurants,... more

We stayed at the Broadwater Inn initially for reasons of placement. My boyfriend and I were travelling with his mother and it was perfect. His mother stayed in the Bed and Breakfast and we stayed in Cottage #4. It was ideal. The innkeeper, John, made my boyfriend's mother feel completely at home. He regaled us with colourful stories and never... more
