The Chanterelle Country Inn is located directly on the Cabot Trail, with easy access to everything along the Trail. We stayed in Cabin #2 and it is the cutest little cabin we have ever seen! The cabin is perched up high on the edge of a hill, and the view from the front deck was nothing short of phenomenal! We... more

We booked a 5-night stay in one of the cottages here after reading of the owner's interest in the Slow Food movement. We were a little concerned after reading a negative review here, but after our stay find it hard to believe the author of that review stayed in the same place. The cottage was clean, well equipped, comfortable, and... more

1. We arrived for an early check-in at 11:45AM and were immediately informed by the owner that check-in time is at 4PM. The owner asked us to return at 4PM because she had to run errands. I asked if she had a vacant room we could check-in to only to learn that all the rooms were vacant, there were no... more

The reviewer and his wife bought one of the packages I had donated to the PBS auction for WGBH. They were scheduled to arrive on the night of July 11 but did not. Their message regarding the delay, unfortunately, did not reach us. Yes, they came in around noon to check in, just as I was going out to attend...

This is a jewel! We found it through National Geographic Traveler Magazine, listed for its environmental quality. I am impressed with the quality of the food. The owner prepared one of the best pieces of salmon I have had, simple, cooked to perfection. While a bit far from the Cape Breton National Park, the place was well worth the three... more

We spent two nights at the Chanterelle Inn during the Celtic Colours Festival in October 2007, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The Chanterelle's country setting is beautiful: above the Cabot Trail, with stunning views up and down the North River valley. The building itself feels like an old-fashioned country inn, with a large common area for dining and... more

My husband and I recently bicycled the Cabot Trail and were staying at a Bed and Breakfast near the Chanterelle. We decided to go there for dinner since it was close to where we were staying and we didn't have a car with us.........so glad we did!! The service and the food were both excellent. Everything in the restaurant is... more

The location of the Chanterelle is beautiful but aside from that, we were completely disappointed with our one night stay. First of all, when we walked into the place to check-in, the two people at the counter simply stared at us as if we were intruders and didn't say a word until we finally spoke up and introduced ourselves as... more

These guests changed their reservation no fewer than three times before coming and missed a confirmed dinner reservation the night of their arrival. They arrived at about 9:30 p.m. I thought they were just dropins and my first concern was that we had closed the dining room an hour earlier and didn't know what we could offer them in case they...

I went to the Chanterelle expecting a very serene experience, along with great food. My room was right over the main dining room/common area. I was kept awake by people lingering in this area, who were talking and laughing, not in any inappropriate ways. The sound echoed in my room. Although I was unhappy doing so, at 11:30 p.m., I... more

It is unfortunate that this guest felt so alone here. It is generally the policy of the Inn to let guests introduce themselves or take the initiative to become acquainted. Many simply want to be by themselves and we do not presume anything. My observation was that at one point she had joined in the lively conversation. As to the...

If you want a relaxing, informal setting in stunning surroundings then this is ideal. We stayed in one of the cottages, which was small, but had everything you would need, and had beautiful views across St Anns Bay. It was the picture on the contacts page of their website of their dog (Guy) looking out across the view 'anticipating your... more
