Our group of eight (four couples) stayed at Laurie's in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia. What a disaster. Outdated, worn and in my opinion not worth telling my friends to stay there. We had better surroundings in the fifties and we were poor people. Drive a little farther and find a more modern place to stay. The loud window air conditioner is... more

My wife and I just returned from a 10-day trip around Nova Scotia and PEI...beautiful provinces, with some real gems (e.g., the beaches in PEI!)....we also found some good accommodations, such as the Sonata Inn in Charlottetown, PEI.... but I must comment on the place we stayed in Cheticamp....so as to alert fellow travelers.... I booked a room over the... more

We approached this accommodation with trepidation. Laurie met us and took us to our room - a large one at the end of the block. Very large, recently refurbished room with whirlpool bath. Superb food in restaurant. No regrets whatsoever. more

We drove to Cheticamp from the causeway via the coast road, don't bother, come via the highway and spend the time going around the park... fantastic scenery, reallly reminded me of the North Of Scotland, rugged, bleak and "green". And that is a key advantage of Lauries... location is 15 mins from the park. Motel offered a two bedded room,... more

We stayed here one night on our trip around the Cabot trail. Glad it was only one night as it was straight from the 50's. No coffee pot just a room and bath. However it was clean and the bed comfortable just not all that we expected for the price. We stayed in a bed and breakfast in Prince Edward... more

My brother and I stayed here on a motorcycle trip from Cincinnati to Newfoundland. We felt the accomodations were fairly priced (although a tad on the expensive side) for the area. We requested and received a lower-level room. It was clean and neat. We ate dinner and breakfast the next morning at the on-site restaurant. The meals were decent and... more

We have just returned from Nova Scotia where we had one of our best vacations. We stayed here during the last week they were opened for the season. The location is great (center of town) the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was very clean, bed comfortable, huge bathroom, spacious laundry room on site with a sink to hand wash... more

We drove from Halifax and spent the night in Cheticamp so we could start our exploration of Cape Breton the next morning. I had called Laurie's since they didn't have online reservations and the receptionist told me there was a tour of French tourists that had booked most of their rooms. But she told me there were some apartment rooms... more

The facility is clean and well kept but a bit overpriced. The previous review is, in general, accurate about the place. We arrived without a reservation and were put in one of their apartment units. It had a separate queen bedroom, a full kitchen and a living room with sofa sleeper. Our room and 5 others like it were off... more

We stayed at Laurie's Motor inn in July 2005 we have been to the Cabot trail before and returned because of how beautiful it is. Cheticamp has more restaurants and motels than most of the towns near the Cabot Trail and the beach areas and harbor are very picturesque. Laurie's is a fairly large motel with numerous buildings we were... more
