Stayed in multiple inns throughout Nova Scotia. This was the best one. Large, well- appointed room and spectacular dinner - one of our best meals ever. First rate all the way. more

We found this Inn with the help of our GPS and we were very satisfied. We had a beautiful large suite and slept quite well. We were fortunate enough to have the chef preparing our meals for the two nights that we stayed there. Breakfast was nice but the dinners were wonderful. We were a bit tired from our driving... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at DesBarres Manor and had two relaxing nights in the Sable room. The staff were very knowledgeable and courteous and the food was excellent. Chef Shaun Zwarun certainly knows his stuff! Audrey, our innkeeper was very attentive to detail and she made both of us and our young daughter feel at home. Their wine selection... more

Des Barres Manor, Guysborough, Nova Scotia. My wife and I made long tour of the Canadian Maritimes during August this year. On the way home we spent one night at the DesBarres Manor Inn, Guysborough. One word describes it, excellent!. Our room was very large and beautifully furnished. The barhroom was large, bright and well equiped. The restaurant was very... more

I booked the Beach Blanket Getaway for our anniversary. The food at the Inn was fantastic. The room looked exactly as was shown on the website. The Rare Bird was a dive. The menu was pitiful. No "sample board" of ales was provided as advertised in the package. I would not go there if I lived in Guysborough. The package... more

We are disappointed to learn that after providing you with a beautiful luxury room, fantastic food and a great picnic basket that we were still unable to meet your expectations for your visit with us. We endeavour to provide an authentic luxury experience at DesBarres Manor - we do not hover over guests, but provide them space to relax and...

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful inn and can't wait to return - for both business and pleasure. The staff were excellent and so was the food - for dinner and breakfast. We had the best Halibut and Scallops we have ever tasted - with fresh herbs from the garden - and chocolate truffles to die for. They... more

Arriving at 7:15pm we were amazed that no one was available to check us in. We had not eaten lunch that day in anticipitation of a gourmet meal. We made reservation for dinner when we booked the room three weeks earlier. The kitchen was locked up tight. No chef!! We ate at the local pizza joint.(NOT BAD) No ice was... more

DesBarres Manor prides itself in genuine maritime hospitality and was sincerely apologetic for misplacing the dinner reservation for these guests. Unfortunately, our guests did not bring the reservation to our attention until the next day. Had we been informed of this oversight when they checked in, our Chef most definitely would have returned to the Inn to prepare a fabulous...

We arrived on a cloudy day in Guysborough, a very picturesque little fishing village whose industries have mostly faded away leaving only tourism (and a micro-brewery) as the only economic game in town. This is a well-kept place, with numerous 19th century homes (each with date and original owner plaque) and littered with 19th century churches of every conceivable denomination.... more

DesBarres Manor is beautiful. The rooms are tastefully done and have a number of luxurious touches. I would have rated the inn a 5, if it weren't for the following serious glitch: When we arrived, we tried to make a reservation for dinner but were told that their restaurant was full. No one had informed me when I booked the... more

After a long driving tour from north Cape Breton, this was a wonderful find. The staff were very welcoming and offered us tea & banana bread immediately on arriving; we took them up on this after we had got over how fantastic our room (the Wolfe room) was. After unwinding in the lounge with tea and books, we had the... more
