My family and I stayed at the Auberge de la Miscoutine in fall of 2007, and I have wanting to go back ever since. The small inn's location is perfect, in the picturesque countryside of the town of La Malbaie, in the Charlevoix region of Quebec. Less than 20 minutes from La Malbaie, we could easily visit the Saint Lawrence resort town, but also escape from La Malbaie's casino scene when it got tiresome. The inn is also a easy drive to the regions best parks, the Parc national des Grands-Jardins, and the Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie (which should not be missed!). Several charming villages, trails, and the beautiful Lac Ste-Agnès are all a modest walk from the Inn.
The Inn's owners, originally from Brittany, were absolutely wonderful. Engaging and extremely helpful, they speak English, although their Inn gets relatively few English speaking visitors. They assisted us booking (discounted) whale watching trips, recommended great hiking trails, and...
