Our room was on the small side but perfectly adequate. A window and glass door had a modest view of the river and the door opened onto a lawn sloping down to the main building and restaurant. It was just right. Better than just right were the breakfast and dinner that came with our three night package. The food was... more

We stayed in La Malbaie for three nights, and absolutely loved the area- really beautiful. The staff helped us with places to see, booking a whale watching trip, and seemed to care that we were satisfied. The food was great at breakfast and at dinner (though a little long for my young children). Our room was fairly simple, small bathroom,... more

We stayed in the standard room for just one night on our way to go whale watching further north. The receptionist upon arrival didn't speak much English, but she was sweet and helpful nonetheless. The lobby and restaurant reminded me of a ski lodge. Our room felt a bit like a ship's cabin (we stayed right under the slanted ceiling... more

The spot where the inn is situated has views over the St. Lawrence River (just go up to the small terrace in the first floor to get the most of it, sunset recommended). Breakfast was splendid: you can choose from spoiled yourself with delicious French toast to a healthy selection based on cereals and fresh fruit, everything really good. We... more

We stayed here for 4 nights in June, and just loved it. I wanted to make sure I posted a review to let everyone know how good it was, because when I was doing my research, there weren't too many reviews, so I wasn't sure about my choice. Everything was great - the room, location, staff and service, food, ambience,... more

When we checked in to this hotel we were disappointed to say the least with the very spartan room. It looked like a motel from the 1950's. Mind you, it was one of the cheap ones, in the back without any view, but for $240 you really expect more. It was perfectly clean but tiny, with a" view" of a... more

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Auberge des Peupliers for one night / 2 days on a rainy weekend of November '08. We headed to the Auberge des Peupliers to enjoy Charlevoix's landscape, but mostly, to experiment Chef Dominique Truchon's food. Upon arrival, we received a very friendly greeting from the staff, which was also very knowledgeable about the... more

We went to Charlevoix in search of autumn and we found it. We drove towards this magnificent region enjoying the colours and romantic sceneries. On our way we stopped in Baie St-Paul for a nice lunch and visits to art galleries. Then, we continued our journey to La Malbaie – Cap-à-l’aigle on the panoramic road. The view on the St-Laurent... more

We stayed here during the summer and wished we had booked more than one night. It is very quiet, quaint and worth every penny! All services were excellent. We are going back this fall. The food is to die for! more

The personnel at the reception wasn't friendly. The bathroom of the room I rented wasn't clean. Water was running out of the bathroom ceiling! There was no hot water for shower. Service at the dining room was slow and average. But the meal was good. I paid 225$ . I dot not recommend this hotel. more

Management response from

From your comments, I would guest that you had room no 40. The bathroom was completely redone in 2006. The package at 225$ included the dinner for two, breakfast, gratuities and the room. For the mention that the bathroom wasn’t clean, this is completely unacceptable to our eyes. Please contact us and we will try to work something out as...
