Our family stayed at Hotel Concordia right on Plaza Chica in Patzcuaro and thoroughly enjoyed the central location, interior parking and very clean rooms. It has been completely remodeled but still retains colonial charm. Our large room was $550 pesos with 2 double beds. They seemed to have other rooms ranging from a single with a bath down the hall to one that had 3 double beds. It was one of the cleanest we stayed at during two weeks in Mexico and the manager and staff were very helpful. There is some negotiating room on prices but for the location and price it is excellent value. The Friday markets which wind around the old part of the city are not to be missed, nor are the well-preserved nearby pre-hispanic ruins. Great side trips are the National Park in Uruapan, a gorgeous jungle garden along a crystal clear river, and Lake Zirahuen with a lovely restaurant right on the shore.
