Be careful with this hotel…!!!! They ask for the payment in cash arguing they need it to pay to their Employees in cash and additionally they charge your credit card (the one they request only as a warranty for booking). They do not mention important information during the booking, later, when you arrive, they argue you didn’t request the correct... more

“A relaxing rural setting” – forget it! At night feral dogs that bark and/or howl every forty-five minutes through the night invade the grounds. Being forewarned about the cost of dinner we chose to eat at the hotel on only one of the three nights we were staying. The meal is not worth the US$30 plus 15% service charge –... more

We live in Mexico City and are frequent travelers. This year, due to the financial crisis and the devaluation of the Peso, we decided to travel inside our country and for our first travel of the year we wanted to have a romantic getaway and see the Monarca Butterflies. We could not have chosen a better place in Michoacan to... more

We stayed here on our first trip to central Mexico, and fell in love with it. We arrived after a nerve wracking drive from Mexico City, and the hosts graciously offered to keep the restaurant open late so we could get dinner. The grounds are lovely, the ambience peaceful and relaxing. For you birders out there, they had Flame-colered Tanagers... more

I had high hopes for this hotel from reading the reviews, and it is certainly a pretty place, but it is a complete rip-off in the food category. Do not go to this place unless you are rich. The owners pretend to be all warm and charming, but make no mistake- these people are all about money and I left... more

We were a group of ten people (two families) staying at Rancho San Cayetano. We had two of the casitas, and one double room. On the plus side, the place is lovely. The grounds are exquisite, the cabins are roomy, clean and utterly charming. It's impossible not to relax. It's the perfect jumping-off spot for the butterfly refuges. We found... more

On a recent trip to Mexico, my husand and I learned about the Butterfly Sanctuaries from a friend. We wanted to stay in a location as close as possible to the Sanctuaries so I checked with Trip Advisor and learned about Rancho San Cayetano. We were absolutely delighted with the recommendation. Lysette and Pablo were very accommodating hosts and we... more

Having visited the monarch sanctuaries from Morelia a couple of years ago (requiring a very long day trip) we decided we wanted to come back to this area but find a place to stay closer to the sanctuaries. We quickly discovered that there aren't that many options in terms of "nicer" accomodations in the area - as a result, we... more

This place is wonderfull! Cottages are extremely well decorated with style and confort. Garden is lovely! And it is difficult to have better hosts than owners Pablo and Lisette. They had all information about sights nearby, which you cannot find from any guidebooks. Everything is kept in good condition and so clean! This is perfect place to stay if you... more

The Rancho San Cayetano is a wonderful little hotel on a dozen beautiful acres with attentive hosts (Pablo and Lisette). The accomodations are comfortable and spotless; the food is first rate -- what a chef! Eating is an event and the substantial breakfasts hold you all day. Pablo is very helpful in providing guidance for local touring. In particular, this... more
