This hotel and resort was perfect. It was small and intimate with beautiful, manicured grounds. The rooms were very cozy with comfortable beds and a fireplace in each room. The husband and wife owners were very hospitable and went out of their way to answer questions or arrange tours. The best part was the tour they arranged to see the... More

We arrived to Ranchero San Cayetano at night, after the kitchen had closed. Despite this, the wonderful host made sure we would have a nice light dinner and a good glass of wine to settle in from our journey on the road. With the weather being a bit chilly, the wood burning fireplace in the room was the perfect way... More

After six and a half hours on buses of various sorts and two very long cab rides we pulled off the road, through the stone gates and found ourselves in a veritable oasis... vast expanses of manicured lawns, stone pathways, shade trees and flowers... It really is breathtaking... We felt very much like we were on one of the gulf... More

What a charming discovery (we found it on Tripadvisor): the perfect spot to overnight before and after a day climbing the mountain on horseback to see the monarchs. Luxurious and relaxed, this country lodge has a variety of spacious and character-filled rooms (every one with a working fireplace: very welcome on cool evenings), a generous open-air pool to ease the... It's hard to explain the feeling of serenity you feel upon arrival at this "rancho". It is truly a gem. The rooms are luxurious, with lovely duvets and warm blankets. You are after all at approx. 5,000 feet, so it's cool in the evenings. There is a fireplace as well so no lack of comforts. The decor is Mexican "folk".... More

We travelled to this hotel from Mexico City - about 2hours. The hotel is in a lovely location but the accommodation was a little disappointing. The bathroom definitely needed a little TLC. The wash basin was very chipped and the shower area was really in need of modernisation. We were also a little disappointed at the meal arrangements. The food... More

How does a place get any better? The hosts, Pablo and Lisette, and their staff, have created the most charming experience a person can have in Mexico (and there are a lot of great places to visit and stay). The resort itself is peaceful and beautifully maintained, the food is tasty and plentiful, the rooms are homey and spotless...the list... More

Lisette and Pablo go the extra mile to make this resort a delightful stop on a trip to Michocoan. From Lisette's superb cuisine to Pablo's accommodating help with tours--including horseback rides up to monarch reserves--San Cayetano creates an experience worth savoring. Staff are customer-service sensitive, and most speak some English. Even the dogs are friendly. Prices are reasonable for the... More

Arranged as a private tour through Mextrotter, my wife and I stayed 3nights at Hotel Rancho San Cayetano in Zitacuaro. The accommodation is set in extensive grounds which are absolutely beautiful and full of flowers and a large range of birds. The owners , Lisette and Pablo were excellent hosts and very helpful and attentive, as was the receptionist Doris.... More

If I were a monarch this is where I would land. This luxury resort, 30 minutes from a monarch site in Michoacan is set in a beautiful park like setting with towering trees and rolling lawns. There are a number of different sleeping options to choose from. Lisette can plan everything for your tour by horseback to the butterfly sanctuary... More
