Time flies. It's nearly been a year since we stayed at the Colonial. We vowed to write a review about it, but of course never did, until now. But now we're planning our next trip back, so.......
If you're heading to Alamos, and even if you weren't, go and DEFINITELY STAY AT THE COLONIAL! It's a great hotel in a huge colonial hacienda right in the middle of town. It's clean, well priced, very well appointed, and it's run by an incredibly warm spirited woman who exiled out of New Orleans after Katrina. She brought all the warmth and happiness that New Orleans can be with her, and we just happened to be there during Mardi Gras, totally unplanned. Who would expect Mardi Gras in Mexico? But Janet had imported 1000s of bead necklaces and a Cajun chef and threw a party complete with a big costume parade that all the local gringos' dressed up for. We even got to roll through the little Mexican town on a flat bead with a bunch of dressed up folks, throwing beads to the amazed...
