We stayed at Posada del Hidalgo for one nght as part of the Copper Canyon tour. The hotel building was absolutely fantastic. An old colonial mansion that retained most of it's historical components. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and our room door opened onto a shaded court yard which had comfortable seating in shaded areas. We had lunch on... more

My wife and I our our three young children stayed here for one night in early November 2009. It was our first night of four of our Copper Canyon tour. We liked this hotel. The rooms are rustic, with no phone or TV, but that was OK - that's what we were there for: to disconnect. We did the river... more

We were pleasantly surprised by this charming hotel. All the rooms open on to one of several courtyards. Our room only had wooden shutters, not windows, and we were concerned that noise or bugs could be a problem, but they were not. The bedroom and bathroom were both dimly lit, which can be a problem finding dark clothing in dark... more

This hotel was part of a 7 night trip through Copper Canyon. We stayed 2 nights. We loved everything about it. All the rooms surround one of about 4 courtyards. Our room was near the hotel museum and we feared it might be noisy. It was not. The air conditioning worked very well. We had a lovely seating area in... more

This is a wonderful posada. A historical landmark which is reputed to be the birthplace of Zorro. (He appears regularly during happy hour to dance with the ladies.) Our room was spacious and included a tv although few had tv and some members of our tour reported smaller spaces. Our room had no internet connection. But the real beauty of... more

El Fuerte was the turnaround point of an 8-day package tour we joined from El Paso, Texas. Although there are other nice hotels available in this town, we think the tour organisers made a great choice with our two-night stay at the Posada del Hidalgo. Meals were nicely done, the expected but still fun, appearance of “Zorro“, folk dancing by... more

Hotel was beautiful--we had a room in newer part that overlooked the street--no noise problem. July is extremely hot but rooms had AC and ceiling fan. Pool was absolutely nasty--green, couldn't see the bottom, and they kept promising to "clean it tomorrow" which didn't happen. After seeing pool, didn't even want to think what might be in spa! We also... more

We just could not get enough of the Hotel and I must have take dozens of photographs of the Hotel and courtyards. What came to mind when we walked in was charming, appealing, and... more

This is one of the Balderama hotels that exemplifies old Colonial Mexico. The location of the hotel can't be matched. Walk down the ramp and your in the heart of the zocolo with the gazebo and the cathedral and municipal palance next door. While a tourist destination the town is set up for Mexicans and you'd be hard pressed to... more
