Stayed at the Club Akumal Caribe (beachfront hotel) for one night in June, 2009. The place is pretty much exactly as it was last time I stayed (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g499445-d252781-r18217075-Hotel_Akumal_Caribe-Akumal_Yucatan_Peninsula.html). Unfortunately, they haven't updated the mattresses so they're still on the hard side - but they have added new ceiling fans and internet access in the rooms which was positive. A couple... more

If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy great Snorkling look no further. This Hotel is truly a Hidden Jewel in the Mexican Caribeean. It is about an hour drive from Cancun Airport and it is in a very hidden spot at the Maya Riviera. The Hotel has no Televisions and by 10pm the Restaurant Closes and... more

We stayed in one of the bungalows, which are very simple but roomy and comfortable. The beds are hard and the air conditioning is a bit noisy, but we were so tired out from sun and swimming and activity that none of us had any trouble falling asleep. The beach is very beautiful, with many palm trees and soft, soft... more

Just returned from a great stay at Hotel Akumal Caribe. After staying at the large all-inclusives that have sprung up all over Mexico, we decided to try something smaller and more personal. We loved it! We stayed on a ground floor beachfront room with a king bed and kitchenette. It included a small fridge with a small freezer shelf, a... more

This is a nice quiet, friendly resort located right on a great beach. We took the bus from Play del Carmen to Akumal ($1.50/person) and after a short 15 minute walk, were in the lobbby of the Caribe. We had one of the ground floor units in the hotel. We could see the beach from the room and were just... more

We (myself, my husband, and our two daughters -- ages 4 and 6) just returned from 10 days at Hotel Akumal Caribe. We had such a wonderful time! I'm confused by anyone who reviews this "hotel" negatively. I'm fairly well-travelled, and I would consider this a "find". It is NOT an all-inclusive, at all. In fact, when we left, I... more

I stayed at in a bungalow at Akumal Caribe in February 2009 for 12 days. It was the ideal location for our family. Our room was simple but very clean and comfortable. It was a treat to be just a short stroll from a beautiful beach, especially with a young child so we could come back for an afternoon snack... more

My husband and I decided to stay in Akumal for a couple of nights while on our honeymoon. We walked off the bus in a huge rainstorm, and this was the first place we came to. The rooms were clean enough so we booked a night. We stayed in one of the bungalows, which are situated in center of the... more

Stayed at the Villas Akumal Bungalows for almost 20 days and very much enjoyed it. Havier, George and Martha were most helpful along with Marcello who rents the golf carts. The rooms are very basic - one large room and a separate bathroom/shower. Plenty of hot water and AC. Very close to Lol Ha's restaurant and the dive center and... more

My family was part of a group of 18, most of whom stayed here. We had two teens 16 and 19. The resort is very different from the polished corporate places you see between Cancun and Akumal, which suited us just fine. After entering a neat arch where the front desk is, the resort is kind of a maze of... more
