We stayed at this hotel as part of a theatre break weekend. We had two twin rooms that were fine for an overnight stay but as it is small it may not be suitable if you were staying for a few days. It contained tea, coffee, biscuits, hot chocolate and even a tea pot!!! The room and bathroom were clean,... More

I was disappointed by this hotel in many ways. I hope the refurbishment rectifies some of the deficiencies. The problem is where to start. The rooms, especially the bath rooms are tired, the shower head in my bathroom needed replacement, there was as much water coming out of the sides as the bottom. There were only the draws in the... I have stayed at the Bellhouse more than 50 nights over the last 8 years and 15 nights in the last 12 months. The staff are friendly and helpful. The public areas including the gym and pool are pretty good. The rooms are a decent size and comfortable but bathrooms are generally in need of a thorough programme of renovation.... More

Or set the heating controls in the bar for the same temperature as the heart of the sun. Thankfully, May at the moment thinks it is January and it was cold outside or the heat from the bar would have melted the hardiest of traveller. There were several large fans moving hot air around the bar, but the noise was... More

The majestic facade of the building as you drive in gives the impression of a up-market modern hotel, indeed I can remember a time when it was. My latest stay revealed that it is getting a bit run down - a tile missing of the wall in one of the loos, a window in my room that would not close,... More

Stayed here as part of a wedding party with the event held elsewhere. We paid a £55 wedding special rate. Normal rates are circa £150. The rooms are basic and in need of modernisation. Old decor, 70s style colouring and dated furniture make the aesthetics pretty boring, but a comfortable night’s sleep can be obtained. The bathroom is fine, with... More

I just recently stayed a this property for several nights and while it does need some updating, I had a nice, reasonably comfortable stay. The staff was very polite and alert to my needs. However, I did feel the housekeeping staff was not putting in the necessary effort for such a property.

I haven't stayed here or eaten in the restaurant, but can recommend the coffee! They include a very nice couple of biscuits with the coffee too. Sandwiches are generally good too, although they do have the odd off day. NIcest place to have coffee is at one of the huge coffee tables in reception, as it's away from the ubiquitous... More

I have stayed at the Bellhouse many times over the last 20 years and watched its rise and fall in standards. the staff & management do we'll to keep this ageing hotel going. I booked 2 nights at the Bellhouse over the Easter break, I was a little apprehensive due to the other reviews and also how cheap it was (i paid £116, 2 nights B&B, 2 adults sharing). On arrival the receptionist was very welcoming & friendly, our room was pleasant and clean. Bar area was especially nice overlooking the indoor pool... More
