We stayed here for the weekend of the 13th of Jan, Its a hard one to review for us because the little local pub atmosphere was endearing but lacking at the same time,. We checked in at 2, In to a small but very clean nicely decorated room, We made our way to the bar and stayed there all afternoon... More

This is our local pub and I can't believe that I've forgotten to review it. Style is traditional old English pub in the fairly small bar area, ie, low celings and beams. The lounge on the side offers an additional bar eating area. The restaurant has just been redecorated and is cool, classic and elegant. There is a large garden... More

We found this inn from the 2010 Good Pub Guide. We needed an overnight stop prior to travelling to Heathrow and we couldn't have found a more relaxing, good value, quiet place within 20 minutes drive of Heathrow (we left 8.45am on a weekday, but obviously you're at the mercy of the M40/M25/M4 traffic!). Food was excellent, room was big,... More

I can't believe that I forgot to review this hotel and restaurant following our stay last December, especially as we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We had dinner there on Christmas Eve and then, on the spur of the moment, decided to stay the night. The dinner was fantastic value. Very reasonable price and great menu with a fabulous selection of... More

Chequers inn is off the beaten track but has a lovely mixture of the old, cosy inn with a larger, modern space attached for larger groups. A good selection of ales, wine and food. The room was clean, comfy with a modern bathroom. My partner had a lovely stay with a hearty breakfast. We would be happy to stay here... More

As reviews of Chequers are very dated and not too favourable, we would like to provide a more up to date review that commends the Chequers as an attractive venue. We chanced to come here a few years ago to attend a wedding and have returned several times as we have a son and family living in the area. We... More

This place is really difficult to review. I have been a few times for food and drinks in the bar, and each time the standard of service and food in the bar is different! This simply isn't good enough with the prices they charge. Chips have been soggy, bread stale, service slow. However, the staff are lovely, the bar very... More

We had a lovely stay in this hotel. We had a pleasant room for two nights. The food was really good, especially in the restaurant where we ate on the first night of our stay. On our second day we ate in the bar and still found the food well above average. The area is lovely and there are good... More

On the strength of Paddy Burt's review in the Daily Telegraph and its inclusion in Diana henry's Gastropub Cookbook, we thought we would would travel the 50 miles to the Chequers inn for an evening meal for 4. I made sure we telephoned in two days in advance to establish what would be a good time to arrive to ensure... More
